European guy, weird by default.

You dislike what I say, great. Makes the world a more interesting of a place. But try to disagree with me beyond a downvote. Argue your point. Let's see if we can reach a consensus between our positions.

  • Any more and trying to read that would give me a brain hemorrage.

  • So it just disappeared? How long did ot last? And is the same skin usable or could it resurface or reactivate the old tattoo?

  • Now I'm even more curious.

How long will those last? Can you expand a bit on it?

  • Mine too but I always thought I was an odd thing.

  • I live in an area where 50 years ago the population was bordeline autonomous.

The main activities were centered around sheep, wine, a little on open grazing cattle, some cereal production and orchards.

With no money issues, I would start by buying all abandoned and empty buildings and launch a massive rebuilding and renewing campaign. This town has several centuries of history and preserving and returning people to it would be my top priority.

In tandem, I would force a massive reforestation program in the surrounding area. It is technically a national park but it is almost barren.

Paired with this, techonlogy and infrastructure would need to be developed and implemented. A small datacenter would be created deep underneath the city, cooled with waste waters. For this, a completely new and top of the line waste water management plant would be built and every available human built surface would be covered in solar panels.

Reflorestation efforts would be paired with development of forest fire detection, prevention and extinction technology.

City renovation would be planned around low density population areas, with building topping at six individual dwellings, with built in commercial areas for small local shops. Parking would be concentrated on the outskirts of the town, in purpose built buildings, leaving the core areas for walking and human powered means of transportation.

In terms of job creation, I'd start cooperatives for wine, fruit, cereals, produce and cattle, to stimulate small and medium producers to settle and develop their activities and relaunch the wool and cloth industry of the city, using the wool from locally raised sheep. As a by-product, a specialized lanolin extraction shop would be created. I'd leave traditional cheese making for small producers (the local cheese can go for crazy high prices but not for the people that have the work making it) but support creating a guild to negotiate prices.

Orchards would have support from a locally established industry to transform the lower grade fruit into jams, juices and other related products. Always coops.

There would be more to plan and but at some point I would be too busy going to court daily being accused to trampling every other interest, so I would have to have an army of people supporting my megalomaniac plan.

  • I'm going to check a bit further. I would like to have a MSI based system. My (most probably) next monitor will be an MSI curved.

  • I have a motherboard that reaches a version that requires OS loading. It has an .exe file. No files directly loadable at BIOS level but I always assumed it an oddity.

  • Currently, I'm running a Gigabyte AB350M-DASH and I was able to load several BIOS updates directly by USB. However, from a version onwards it requires loading from the OS.

I thought it was just an isolated case but it seem to be a more common situation.

  • "Do you shoot at birds?"

Dare anyone to pinpoint that quote.

  • Above all, it is about the individual freedom.

Go back in history and you'll see a pattern of regressive politics paired with heavy censorship, starting with anything sex or sexuality related and, by extension, anything potentially disturbing.

It is always sparked by a "well intentioned" desire to protect:the public from harmful creation which then pushes further and further into thought control. There have been attempts to ban and criminalize cursing.

Imagine being arrested for shouting an expletive out of hurting yourself or frustration.

I don't consume porn. I think it is so banalized it has become uninteresting. But to have people persecuted because they want to make it is not something I want to see. And this feeling goes further when we enter the realm of personal affirmation, linked with LGBTQ+ issues and other individuals fighting for their rights.

And this is highly debateable but artistic creation must no be censored. The best censorship for artists and their work is indifference. It's the best way to state that something is irrelevant.

Meanwhile, with all the persecution towards mature content (try replacing NSFW and porn with that expression), we get violence nearly glorified in almost all media and so called reality tv and other highly exploitative entertainment is normalized.

Leave the mature content creators be.

  • Electronic, e-ink, price tags.

Centrally linked to a shop back office workstation. You can turn the entire shop upside down twice a week and the actual work to change the tags would be negligible.

And for what it matters, lets assume a very large nation wide chain, like Target. The stock leaves their supply wharehouses unmarked, as it should. The cargo is then delivered to the stores, the tags printed (waste of paper), with full price, and the shelves restocked. Each store has to deal with their local taxation or absence of it.

It is not a very complex endeavour.

  • Agreed

  • Regardless. It had a better chance to it. And nowadays a bunch of countries with wildly varying cultures, completely different languages and a lot of unsolved baggage is doing it better.

If it was to be another group of independent nations, fine. But the moment federation is considered and considering the duress it had to take from the start, against a common enemy, true, organized union would be easier and simpler.

  • I risk computers can deal with the brunt of the work, if will to do so exists.

  • Tax harmonization is an ongoing struggle.

The Nederlands and Ireland have extremely low taxation rates for companies, which is causing many companies to move to these countries and effectively undercutting their country of origin. And now that I think about it, Luxembourg has the same issue.

But completely waving taxation is not legal, at any level.

I'm aware the american states could be considered countries. Unfortunately, the US being a somewhat more homogeneous country at its inception, never took the opportunity to create a good legal super structure. The end result is the conflicting federal and state level.

  • That is an entire level of idiocy and corruption by itself.

  • That is awful.

  • No prices? Things are getting worse.

  • I'm aware of that qwirk in your system. No such thing here. And I have a mortgage to pay.
