  • got it, also I was overthinking it bit too much. I simply have to enable sharing

  • Bookmarking this location in file manager also causes problem.

  • I'm not mounting home directory itself but my samba mount point directory was inside home directory. For e.g. /home/user/share1

  • Is there an explanation somewhere about how to do this? I was thinking I needed uPnP server on HTPC but after reading some more realized that's probably not the thing. Then I found VLC should be able to do it (https://www.baeldung.com/linux/upnp-dlna-clients)

we just select Universal Plug’n’Play from theLocal Network category on the left.

but after that it doesn't just show up under device where I can cast

I think gmediarenderer is what I'm looking for

  • Oh wow, I just kept thinking renderer somehow opens ports for accepting streams. Let me revisit it then.

  • Linux @lemmy.ml

Is there a way to setup audio renderer (sink)

  • I currently have systemd solution but it only manages to mount when needed.

  • just tried Dolphin (KDE file manager) - same experience. Going to experiment with autofs next

  • It was through fstab until recently. About 2 weeks back I moved to mount them on demand (systemd, will confirm exact method when I'm in front of computer) however this still doesn't address unmount part when I switch network.

  • Not really tied to gnome, it's just something I'm using. Would KDE work better ?

  • Thanks will have a look at autofs

Is there a way to mount/unmount network drive as needed

  • Are you looking WiFi or lan is OK as well? I've found PoE works decent for this scenario (initial setup through web server running on camera). I used Amcrest with PoE (put them on subnet without internet access), they have rtsp out of the box, integrates no problem with frigate. Reolink rtsp is not out of the box with frigate but cameras worked out of the box on PoE.

Doorbell (amcrest) is connected to WiFi however it needed app for initial setup.

  • Thanks for other suggestions. I should get into figuring out all the available mini PCs, minisforum is just being in my feed a lot lately.

  • I don't see functional reason to buy green other than supporting nabu casa. I like yellow for integrated ZigBee and ability to replace cm4. I was about to buy 3rd yellow but maybe I should move to some minisforum NUC.
