  • It looks interesting, but unfortunately only from a technology perspective and not from a content perspective.

  • Depends on whether or not you're okay with an MLM gig

  • I don't want a Linux phone tho. Give me LineageOS and let me be happy.

  • Nope that's not it.

So, most Qanon supporters believe in a conspiracy theory that the world's elites are running a child trafficking ring that kidnaps kids and tortures them in order to extract adrenochrome from them which is (and this part is real btw) a powerful drug with few to no side effects, but can basically only be extracted from living beings who are under extreme duress. I'm getting the impression that Tim Ballard and OUR are trying to both get the general public more incensed and outraged over child trafficking, and convince the Qanon supporters to at least support real child trafficking organizations, instead of just mouthing out about it on the internet.

The film itself isn't really tied to Qanon or anything. Jim Caviezel supports it, but that doesn't make the film any more connected to Qanon than the Mission Impossible films are to Scientology. In fact the plot of the movie doesn't align with the adrenochrome theory at all, focusing on children being trafficked into sex slavery. But there are many in the media who are secretly (or publicly) pro-pedophilia, and they've been trying to connect Qanon to the movie to make it look bad.

  • That's a fair point, and actually looking at the film's budget, I'm guessing it's because he was a good actor who was so passionate about the issue that he was okay with making the movie for free.

  • I feel like if you're ace you won't be aroused so it's even less of a problem, no?

  • It is quite hilarious watching the elites attempt to manufacture outrage against Angel Studios as a whole because they made one movie that was against child trafficking.

Angel Studios' content is popular because it's at the very least not bad, which isn't something we can say about most Hollywood blockbusters nowadays. Not to mention that they have the goodwill of Hollywood workers, having gained exemptions to resume work on projects such as the upcoming season of The Chosen.

  • I'm not sure which take is worse, this one, or the take that Barbie is pure third wave feminist propaganda

  • Yeah the way they wrote that made it seem like the people behind the movie were okay with that decision

  • Good or bad directing can very easily make or break a performance regardless of an actor's talent.

  • Literally this. I've never used it, but it sounds like what the OP is looking for.

  • Are there any potential plans for DLNA support?

  • Dang. This almost makes me want to switch away from PLEX. I love how this feels a bit like removed TV's interface, but isn't just a plain carbon copy.

  • Wait there are bots on Lemmy/Kbin/Lotide?

  • Not comedy, but postmodern self-awareness to the point where the content doesn't take itself seriously anymore.

I recently saw a really good video about this called "Well, that just happened": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XLAahsH9e7k

  • All of this. I'm not pro third wave feminism but I absolutely loved the messaging about the toxic state of Ken.

  • I ended up watching it, and I'd have to agree. I ain't a third wave feminist and didn't like a lot of the messaging about the war of the sexes, but I don't think that kept it from being a hilarious film. The feminist messaging wasn't even that heavy-handed until the end.

And while MGTOW-adjacent (I find the movement a bit harmful TBH), I do think their messaging about being a simp was pretty good. I approve of anti-simp messaging.
