  • I'd say things are looking especially good for A24 and Angel Studios, who both got exemptions for some of their productions already. If I were them I'd sign an agreement with them, accepting their terms and allowing all their productions to not be classified as struck work

  • Maybe a solution could be getting rid of some tribes entirely, so that we're not so divided? We can still have tribes, but we really don't need this many of them

  • But it's their fault!

  • What's going on with the UHD disc?

Yeah what annoys me most is when there's an HD copy I can buy digitally, but no Blu-Ray release.

  • The creators see money from cable residuals and digital and physical purchases but that's it

  • Fair warning, the Roku client for PLEX doesn't seem to support HDR, at least from my own testing

  • Literally this. And buying content outright actually sends money to the people who made the show, unlike watching it on streaming.

  • Nice. Yeah nowadays I get something on 4K UHD Blu-Ray if it's in 4K, and if not, I get it in Blu-Ray if I can.

The only case in which I'll get something on iTunes is if iTunes has it in HD and there's no Blu-Ray release yet (like 9-1-1), or there's no physical release at all (like The Carmichael Show). The vast majority of what I buy is still physical media.

  • I believe you can download 4K versions, but the DRM-removing software I use, ViWizard, only works on an old version of iTunes. So for example I bought Trolls World Tour in 4K when it came out, but my DRM free copy is in 1080p because my app is old.

  • Lotide is good too.

  • For me, it's worth it for the doubled bitrate over the PLEX proxy. I'll probably be moving out of my parents' home next year into an apartment complex, and can't guarantee that I'll be able to set up port forwarding on the ntwork.

  • Not my instance but thanks for the heads up

@Midou @arya apparently the timestamps are off here

  • I don't blame them, because of the writer's strike, but although I love Lower Decks, it's the last Star Trek show I'd want to watch in a theater. Why not throw a live action season premiere into theaters like Angel Studios did with The Chosen?

  • That's an awful reason to want dyslexic unfriendly fonts. I figured it was because dyslexic fonts are hard to read if you're not dyslexic, I'm not dyslexic so I hate those fonts with a passion, especially when you're not given a choice as to whether or not they're used like when Twitter briefly used a dyslexic font on the whole site. That was a nightmare!

  • IDK, what if he has a deal for Winds of Winter with HBO? He'd then be a writer, working for the studios that the WGA is striking against.

  • Hmm maybe I should stop using Deadline as my primary source of entertainment news, they've broken some stories, but there was that one time they deceptively represented a picketer's statements about the strikes...

  • Huh? People always loved and hated him, I just think that with buying Twitter, both sides got way louder, and so we notice them more.

  • @PaulLev I'd never seen Strange New Worlds before this episode. Now I wanna watch it. What a great episode!
