  • I suppose I'm relatively spoiled as a German.

FAAMG or whatever they call themselves now) are now laying off massive amounts of workers to replace them with poorly implemented AI.

I do remember setting my webbrowser to English to avoid YouTube's absurd automatic title translations, and that was before the LLM hype ...

  • Other countries pass laws that require big majorities all the time. Why are 40+% of senators against it in the first place?

Trying to identify the one issue that prevents sensible laws seems like a fool's errand to me.

  • Fairly obvious if you grew up in a non-anglophone country. It's part of the reason why certain kinds of people set their machines to English even if everything is localized well. And it's not just error messages, most of the good learning material is in English, too, especially for niche or very recent software.

Makes me wonder what kind of device you're using in the shower, though.

  • Weinstein might be a fairly common jewish name? Definitely not changing mine, it's very common.

I'd definitely consider it if my family name was Hitler, or something that's a common swear word nowadays to the point that few people even know the original meaning anymore. "Ficker" is a relatively common name in my country, but to contemporary people it's basically "fucker". Many change the name into "Fischer" or use their spouse's name instead.

  • What's a reasonable amount of start-up capital? I wonder if you could make a big difference in US politics if you had like 50 billion USD and invested it all into promoting progressive (i.e. left of the DNC-mainstream) politicians and policy. Making sure that the USA don't fuck everyone else's shit up would make a huge difference.

Like, how much money are all the fascist billionaires actually investing into politics?

Might be a little late for this approach, though, at this point I'd expect that three letter agencies would just assassinate me if I started that now.

  • Me, 10 minutes into deep cleaning: "Oof, my back"

  • I'm decent with maps. Most people describing a way, though? Fucking awful, if I even understand what they're saying in the first place (I'm pretty bad with accents).

  • Definitely.

  • German north sea coast seems nice. I don't even live that far away from it, but because it's rather popular, the prices for traveling there are too high for my budget. Buying or renting a space to live is obviously also expensive.

If we're talking "which country is the least likely to get a far right government", not sure. Norway seems like it's doing pretty well overall, but I don't really have much experience with Scandinavians. Also they're pretty tall, which is kind of a pain if you aren't tall, too.

  • AFAIK, freight trucks/lorries can contact each other, through radio. But imagine how much worse road rage would be if you could shit-talk other drivers over radio. Would be funny, though.

  • Both were popularized by anime.

  • Do they show any kind of remorse, like "I didn't think it would be that bad", denial "I don't believe [bad thing] actually happened", or are they straight-up going "serves them right, fuck them kids"? If it's the third option, I wouldn't even let them into my house anymore.

  • Did they also pick the car rental company for, assuming there is more than one option in your area? Increasingly sounds like nepotism or similar ...

  • Maybe they don't have faith in your choice of car or diligence with keeping it presentable.

Or maybe someone is doing a nepotism.

  • Know your audience. You'd think attorneys were better at that, but I guess witnesses don't decide whether someone gets made attorney or not.

  • Silence, peasant!

  • "puta" literally means "whore", though. Either way, what the hell kind of insult is "son of an unmarried woman"/"son of a prostitute" if you think it through? It's rather anachronistic at this point.

  • Hijo de puta (or was it "de la puta"?) seems fairly strong? Though kind of misogynistic.

  • Many languages have using the wrong level of honorifics as a personal insult, while e.g. in English this only really exists in the form of royal honorifics, which are very rare for obvious reasons (which is sometimes used mockingly).
