  • It's really too bad I don't have a meter that I can read for the entire house because if I did I would totally put the meter there to get the whole home consumption and then put all the smart plugs under individual devices.

  • Get new friends who respect themselves and you.

  • Agreed. unifiedPush should be tablesteaks

  • If it sounds like overkill on the privacy front, that's a good chance that it means you should be using it LOL.

  • They don't have some sort of foreground service in the notification tray that keeps it running in the background?

  • Oh look, they also accept Monero as donations.

  • I've never heard of it, but damn it does sound interesting.

The fact that your identity is nothing but a Tor V3 onion address is incredibly interesting.

Those are super easy to change, so no one would know that it's you across different addresses unless you specifically tell them.

I see they have an Android app, but I would want to make sure that it's on fdroid.

At first glance, I'm able to find repositories with what looks like source code in it, so this might actually be something interesting to look into.

  • Also remember that fdroid is working on getting applications to use reproducible builds so that they are not the ones responsible for building the application. They just have to build it and check to see if it matches what the developer issued as the actual application.

They want you to not have to trust them.

  • You should switch banks to a bank that already has a web application and doesn't require you to use a mobile application to make purchases.

  • i use a code like "nbrnw1" for like outlets and "nbrnw1&2" if its a dual outlet plug. Its a room code "nbr" and where/what device is, in this case "nelw" means "north wall. So "nbrnw1" is an outlet on the north wall of the north bedroom. "Ksw1" would be an outlet on the south wall of the kitchen.

  • I self-host my own Monero node and I self-host my password manager and my files

  • I'm going to call bullshit. There are several decentralized storage networks and resource allocation networks over blockchains.

  • What I mean is that you would mark chats as being private, and then set the minimum to be whatever you wanted people to pay, and people would send a chat with their email address, which you would then send them that particular month's letter. It would not be an ongoing thing unless they continued paying you each month, but you would give them that particular month's letter for the payment.

Say you wanted to charge 0.05xmr/year for your newsletter, you would set the min chat to 0.004xmr and each month someone wanted the letter You would then send them that month's letter.

  • I haven't gone through all the modes, but apparently there is a tracker mode that from what I understand doesn't really broadcast unless it receives a specific signal from a known device. So theoretically it might last a bit longer, but yeah, I definitely see your point.

  • You don't have to do it by streaming. I know of several podcasters who use it and they just read out the chats they got between their previous episode and the current episode. But I think you could change that to be where you pay for it and drop your email address and you get that month's newsletter or something like that.
