  • @beefcat @sjzero I agree that the doctor was the "exploring humanity" character until Seven was added. Neelix was the "hospitality" character, Guinan in TNG, and Quark in DS9, but it was poorly written to the point of just being annoying, IMO. If the whole "hounding Tuvok to get him to loosen up" was supposed to be funny, it failed.

  • @ArtieShaw @xilliah @TingoTenga Of all the "hospitality" people in ST (Guinan, Quark, Neelix), Neelix was by far the worst. He was just annoying. No wonder poor Tuvok couldn't stand him (and then they got merged :eyeroll: ).

  • @MaxHardwood @aksdb And the computer refuses to disclose crucial information because it has feelings. :eyeroll:

  • @maino82 @oehm Agreed. The show because of Shohreh Aghdashloo, whose casting was a stroke of genius. And the books because it's a great story. Silo (on removed TV) is also great. #ScienceFiction

  • @fci @ValueSubtracted I agree with the greater potential with DS9 and Voyager. I remember a documentary on DS9 where Ira Steven Behr got the writers together and made them brainstorm a new DS9 season pilot and thought it sounded awesome. Unlike many, I was really, really, not enthused with Picard S3.
