To add to this, I think it's really helpful to have a monthly (or whatever works best for you) budget, and to compare your predicted versus actual balance at the end of the month. It may: give you feedback and increase your awareness (and decision-making) of your spending and budget, increase your confidence in your ability to manage your finances, help you manage them more rationally (versus emotionally at the time of "where'd all the money go?"), and truly help you reduce debt/ save money. I use a spreadsheet that I update with each paycheck. My parents are very financially literate, but I had to learn this stuff for myself. I reckon it might be a bit of a lost (and sorely missed) art in the age of credit cards, in-app purchases, online gambling, and an over-reliance on subscription services. It's not a panacea but it really helped me get out of the debt I had
I was introduced to Wayne Brady through Chappelle's Show :) I like his coming out, and the thoughtful message he gave. As a wealthy, middle-aged Black celebrity and comic, I think he may be quite influential in opening others' minds and hearts. Also, I'm glad there's a text summary here, because I'd never visit TT
I was on the subway, standing, recently when an elderly man got on board. I'd guess he was in his 70s. Had a crutch under his arm. Had one or a few small bruises on his face. He looked frail. No one with a seat made any effort to offer him their seat. He stayed right near the doorway of the subway, and I thought "oh, maybe he's just going one stop." He wasn't. He just didn't expect anyone to vacate a seat for him.
I remember the subway before personal music players, and now 'smartphones' were ubiquitous. From what I can see, common courtesy has fallen sharply with the rise of 'smartphones' (and the concomitant "I'm walking around completely oblivious to my surroundings and focused on what's on the 4 inch screen 4 inches from my face")
Great list! For piercings, I'd add (nose) septum and additional earrings (i.e, secondary ones that might run up the ear, beside the standard centre-of-lobe piercing)
