  • Career Audio engineer chiming in here. I would say it's a combination of the lack of LUFS regulation and improper mixes. IMHO dialogue clarity should be prioritized more than it currently is, or at the very least we should use the center channel in surround sound formats exclusively for dialog to make it easier to adjust(via software and/or or av receivers), at least more than we currently do. Also modern TV shows are often mixed with a high dynamic range like a movie would be(which relates to LUFS levels), kind of silly and also IMHO bad mixing practice as most of your viewers don't have high end home theatres.

    Nonviolent protests are more popular in public opinion. Public opinion gets you more people on your side. More people on your side is more power, and when the regime starts cracking down on peaceful protests, it will be easier to get more people to fight than it would be of we advocate for violence from the start.

  • I think 3 is the most useful. You can use it to reach things just out of your height range and maybe as a party trick. I'm sure there are other uses for it too, given enough time I could probably think of some other uses too.

  • Yea I previously used bitwarden, my issue with it is that bitwarden is hosted in the US(which was the only reason I switched to PP), so I'm thinking about renting a vps and hosting vaultwarden in it or something.

    I use too many of their services right now to get everything switched over to something else before trump takes power.

    Now I have to find a new password manager, VPN, and email provider. Open to suggestions, but I want to find services that aren't hosed in the us or by trump friendly countries/companies, and ideally use open source software and zero access encryption.

  • If you don't mind waiting a while for whatever it is you're buying, ali-express isn't too bad. If you're near a city and it's not too specialized of a thing you need you can probably find it at a a brick and mortar store.

  • I host my own technetium (recursive DNS) server and have my phone set to always be connected to my network through wireguard. I have nextdns as one of my upstreams along with mullvad and a few others in case those don't work.
