  • Ahh, the classic Firefox logo. How old is that sticker?

  • I just installed Debian 13 a couple of days ago, and went with KDE Plasma this time. (I've always used Gnome and XFCE before.) So I guess I won't see these updates for a while, but it's great that they're happening. :D And I've been loving Plasma so far, too.

  • Ah, gotcha. That's a use case I hadn't thought of. Mine is just the photo backup for my current phone, so when I have my phone with me, I can see all of the photos on the phone itself.

  • I'm using immich and really like it, but I'm not using the Android app. I have synthing on my phone, and I let syncthing send the photos to my server. Then Immich detects the files in the syncthing folder.

Is there any benefit to using the app? Or would using the app be basically the same thing that I'm doing now?

  • My JSON export from wallabag is 46 megabytes. That's for 2,465 articles.

  • I love how active the development on Linkwarden is. I still have all of my stuff in wallabag, but Linkwarden is tempting. I gave the hosted trial a try a few weeks ago, but my wallabag export was too big to import. Maybe I'll try selfhosting it and manually increasing the max upload size this time.

  • Yep, that's exactly what this is for. You use Linkwarden to bookmark things, though -- it's not for your browser bookmarks. But there's a browser extension, so you're still just clicking one button to bookmark things. And you can export your browser bookmarks and then import them in Linkwarden.

  • Prying into who has downvoted you is just not a healthy habit to get into. If you run your own instance, it's important to just never use that ability.

IMO, this is the kind of DM that is best ignored. I think most of us don't want these communities to work like that; don't give it any oxygen.

  • 4! Don't change anything about it, just get it on PC.

  • ^ this is probably the right answer here. Philosophy became the token academic discipline that is used to mock the idea of being educated. It had been going around for a while as a joke, but then became a more serious cultural wedge at some point, like around 2014 as you said. To me, it looked like it accelerated and became mainstream when Marco Rubio said "plumbers make more money than philosophers" in a Republican debate in 2015. (That is false, too: https://www.forbes.com/sites/katiesola/2015/11/11/rubio-welders-philosophers/)

  • The Sonic "All-Stars Racing" games were actually really good, but then Team Sonic Racing was a disappointment. I feel like that this one is going to try to pick up fans with licensed characters instead of solid gameplay, but maybe I'm wrong. Actually, the existence of a demo at all is encouraging.

I'm not going to buy it since I want to get through more of my backlog and stop buying new games, but I'll check out this demo.

  • Um... you mean the Carnivore's Cone of Delight, endlessly rotating in front of you like a car in a showroom?

    1. Indian
    2. Mexican

I try to eat mostly vegetarian at home, and Indian recipes are my go-to for that. Indian food is the best tasting vegetarian food in my opinion. I was tempted to put Chinese here because I make tofu stir fry somewhat frequently, but I go with Indian recipes more often.

Mexican for the second choice because that gives you huevos rancheros, Mexican rice and beans, and homemade corn tortilla chips with guacamole. And breakfast burritos from the place down the street from me.

  • This is the right answer.

  • Lean Cuisine is a brand of frozen dinners. :P

  • I didn't think that Steam was crashable at this point. Great to see that a game made and published by an indie developer is getting so much attention.

  • Oh nice! That is very encouraging.

  • Yeah, I don't think the Fairphone 6 is quite ready. In fact, since none of the previous Fairphone models ever got to full Linux usability, I don't really expect it to happen.

I think the best option -- and really the only option -- right now is the Furilabs FLX1. I'm planning on getting one soon.

  • There's a distributor, Murena, selling the Fairphone 4 and Fairphone 6 in the U.S. now. The Fairphone isn't fully usable with Linux yet, though. Calls, camera, and GPS all still apparently aren't working 100% with postmarket OS. I'm not aware of any other distribution that does any better. https://wiki.postmarketos.org/wiki/Category:Fairphone
