  • I do not have data service to be able to run a hotspot.

  • Why would something choose Telegram as a private alternative over Whatsapp? Can you message someone on Telegram who is not a contact? How do you you get around Felegram saving info and messages on their servers? XMPP would be a better choice with OMEMO.

  • I am considering changing from GrapheneOS to CalyxOS. I have never tried CalyxOS, I've used GrapheneOS on 3 phones.

I don't install any apps that are not from F-Droid.

Blind fans don't realize this, but it is possible to implement so much security in software that people can't use it due to too many repeated roadvlocks in trying to use everyday. Is it possible to implement too much privacy?

  • I will add on top of all the other recommendations, in F-Droid settings, turn off all anti-features. If after doing that, an app you are looking for is not available, check what anti-feature it has for why it's not listed.

  • I suggest RiseupVPN.

  • I don't view using a FOSS frontend equating to logging into an account on a server running proprietary code. Using NewPipe is one thing, but if it was possible,, using NewPipe o login to Google account is another.

For example I refuse to use Proton VPN, I use Riseup VPN because the server for Riseup is open source.

In my own opinion, I believe Protonmail not publishing email server source code and publishing Protonmail app source code is stopping it from having a massively larger popularity.

OpenBSD is proof that security can be achieved through engineering open source code that is standards or protocol compliant and not by depending on proprietary code.

  • Which proves my point. Proton won't publish their server source code, so I don't have blind trust in any Proton service, including Protonmail.

For Proton Wallet, there are free/libre wallet alternatives without anti features.

  • Yes. Nothing from Proton is available in F-Drioid after disabling anti-features.

  • No, it has proprietary or non-free depndencies. There are other libre bitcoin wallets.

  • Project 2025 is 100% political and partisan. Due to that, there are false claims being made about Project 2025.

I condem the organization but not all statements are true due to it's entirely political nature.

  • I just made the switch from Molly to Langis. I prefer Molly but it's a fork as opposed to a patched version removing proprietary dependancies so Langis is straight from Signal releases.

  • Ads on a login screen? That's disturbing.

For people automatically saying to switch to Linux, it's because they have never had a job in tech to know it doesn't work that way, and have never worked in production. There are several industries where if you don't run Windows you can't have a job because all of the software is only designed to run on Windows in their industry.

  • Oh excellent! This willl help towards making OpenBSD 7.6 a usable home desktop system with having KDE 6 and now Wayland is implementing support for OpenBSD.

  • I would like to find a indie military first person shooter single player campaign but it is a massive struggle. I don't like any space creature shooter games like Doom series.

  • It's the coporatization of video games and demand that profits go up every quarter. It doesn't matter if a game is not functional and does not run, everybody in the world must pay $200 for every single release that is ever made, plus $100 for DLC, plus $50 to change character's appearanc.

It doesn't matter if a game does not load, everybidy must still be gratful that they are allowed to buy it.

  • They service the same purpose as a driver, and FreeBSD has user added kernel modules, I forget if OpenBSD does but I'm hoping so.
