  • I think there might be two options to the right (yellow stickers) indicating eg 95E15 and 98E10

  • Yea, Chinese people understand when you do that, but they first look at you with this confused look thinking 'he wants two chopstic pieces?' and then realize you have a vocabulary of a two-year-old.

Source:lived in China long enough to learn yo ask for things, but not long enough to learn the countable nouns.

  • Wouldn't that line of thinking imply that women don't have any agency about anything? Whatever they decide can be framed as a reaction to internalized fear.

Not to mention that gender roles also affect men.

  • Don't need windows if you live in a basement (and use Linux).

  • I have been wondering why my maintainer doesn't remind people to donate more often. I set up a small recurring donation, so I don't have to remember, but I think it'd be okay to regularly remind people.

  • Also look into donating to your instance maintainer. They literally pay for the server costs, so it's fair.

  • I feel like there are some missed opportunities

    • Sensors that don't work because a proprietary driver is missing
    • Having to add repositories to get wifi working
    • Voice assistant that only works if you know terminal command parameters by heart
    • More tool windows
    • More xorg.conf to get displays working
    • A flame war about the relative benefits of obscure infrastructure componemts
    • 7 package managers, 3 if which are needed to install 90% of needed software. The remaining 10% somehow still needs to be installed via shell scripts
    • Completely new UI in each version, still looks like it was designed by german ocelots in the 90s
  • I am very impressed by the detective work there. How do you even...?

  • That's not a bad song, is it really mashed together from 7 other songs? Literally unbelievable.

  • No one on the platform side is incentivized (or capable) of controlling things, which is nice.

  • I mean, I am fine with my hobby website being taken down if it starts to consume an unreasonable amount of bandwidth.

They don't need to give a free tier and I am not entitled to getting anything out of them. Since they have decided to offer one, I do expect to be consulted before sending a bill worth a ferrari.

  • I just checked I have no payment method on file. Should protect me.

  • Somehow prevent multiple posts with the same content from showing up in my feed consecutively. Some people post to multiple communities (which is fine, if the content is relevant), but sometimes I see 3-4 identical posts by the same person in various communities, one after the other on my feed.

I've blocked some accounts who have done this excessively, but in many cases it's valid.

  • Thanks! I stared at this thinking that I can't name the object or the character...

  • Yea this honestly sounds awesome.

  • This is really well made, kudos!

  • We used to, here in Finland, but I think now they crush them and reform them into new bottles. The things cost 20c/piece, so everyone returns them.

  • I kind of want to know what it does... Is it like a rumble pack for your ass? And is it intended to improve the gaming experience or is the game supposed to improve sex?

  • The cost of the scroll wheel cannot possibly be more than 10€ and the pcb cannot be more than 1€ battery is about 4e and display can be 7-8, chip is 2-3e and passives, connectors etc brlow 5. The manufacturing costs of the thing are likely below 40€, even in small volumes. Assy costs are probably about 20% of the total.

Part of the high cost may be investments in moulds for the casing and r&d cost.
