Why do people (usually on reddit) seem to sit on /new and downvote people?

it's always the most dork-ass nerd shit ever, people who read the rules of the sub like it's the fucking bill of rights. I've never read the rules for a sub before posting in my life. it's a forum! how complicated can it be!

like you'll ask a valid question and people will jump on it because aSHKULLY you should post in the megathread no one reads. and being downvoted early means the post is doomed, of course, because of the algorithm
