  • Yeah that’s the one I was picturing lol. Not sure my thumb is adept enough to tell all those buttons apart

  • In my headcanon, DOOM 2016’s player character was a genderless force of anger incarnate. No boobs, but power fantasy for sure.

In that vein, if you wanted indie games, you could look for any recent boomer shooter like Viscerafest (yes girl), Ion Fury (yes girl), or Selaco (yes girl). Searching for the “boomer shooter” tag on Steam seems to yield a lot of female protagonist power fantasy games

The only boomer shooter I’ve played lately is Prodeus which doesn’t have a female protagonist but can definitely exemplify the strengths of the boomer shooter subgenre

  • If you like Prey 2017, and you want to kill things like an absolute monster, and you want to play as a girl, Dishonored 2 is a good fit for all of those things. It’s not indie, and I’m not sure you can see boobs, but it’s a great game by any measure (though it’s not well optimized on PC). It’s not an RPG and it lacks the large skill tree of Prey, but it is an action-forward stealth immersive sim with cool eldritch super powers.

  • Lol that sounds pretty cool tbh. Assuming your mouse has ~12 inputs like the right side of the Deck or most gamepads do

  • Senator Chris Zaxar Travers.

Wait, who are we voting for?

Who did I say I was gonna vote for?

    Why did Trump run uncontested?

  • Just adding here that when I first got into PC gaming, I was really into Battlefield 3 but hated the M+K controls for any of the vehicles so I would pick up my wired gamepad whenever I got into a vehicle.

If we had something that seamlessly mixed the strengths of both input methods, as it seems that the Switch 2 JoyCons do, that would solve so many of the problems I have with playing vehicle-heavy FPS games, or 3rd person action games that also include aiming a ranged weapon.

  • “any bluetooth mouse” needs to be paired with either a keyboard, or one of those split keyboards, or a gamepad in the other hand and none of those are very conducive to playing a game from the couch.

I’ll admit I haven’t tried the MouseMode at all, let alone on my lap or on the couch next to me but it sounds extremely novel and likely to catch on if it could work well.

  • If I were to use a trackball, I might as well use my old Steam Controller with its track pads which are practically the same.

I feel like the benefit of the Mouse Mode is you have two halves of a Steam Deck’s built-in controller, one in each hand, but instead of track pads you have an actual laser mouse. Maybe I’m being picky but this seems relatively revolutionary in my head

  • I think you’re missing the point. A standard mouse lacks a lot of stuff. Sure there are mice with peripheral buttons, and some with a lot of them, and even some with joysticks, but the Switch 2 JoyCons come with not just that, but a paired controller for your other hand that fits there much better than a full Xbox or Playstation or Switch Pro gamepad. Having a mouse built into the controllers would be just like having the Deck’s trackpads, except with more precision.

  • That seems fairly nice, but are you able to purchase the Legion Go’s detachable controllers separately? I’m not about to buy a full new handheld console since I already have a Deck

  • I’ve heard that some people who have ADHD can have a real hard time with “transitioning” from one frame of mind to another as is required for starting a new task of any kind. I imagine people who don’t have ADHD can also struggle with that sometimes

  • The side of the controller that would magnetically attach to the Switch 2 can be placed on a surface (including a lap/thigh) and used as a laser mouse

  • Steam Hardware @sopuli.xyz

How long before Switch 2 JoyCon MouseMode is usable on a Deck?

  • Just like “Room (2015)” and “The Room (2003)” right?

  • 11 years? Since what? Prey 2017 came out… 8 years ago?

Also, in what way are the two games comparable aside from the title? Isn’t the first one a linear FPS while 2017 is an immersive sim?

  • If you’re still buying Call of Duty games, you’re asking for this.

  • I’ve been relatively impressed that the image/emoji generation on my iPhone has all been done on my device. Every time I’ve used it, I’ve checked the “Apple Intelligence” server requests log and it’s always empty (until the one time I asked it to generate a photo memory).

My phone gets pretty hot instantly, then churns through 3% of the battery in a minute but it’s still running on a local system with the local battery.

  • I get that people don’t like it for a wide variety of reasons. However, there are 2 things I absolutely adore about it:

    1. The combat. Not so much the clunky clicking, but the way it strong-arms you into engaging with the alchemy and bestiary like an actual witcher would have to. Witchers don’t stand a chance against most of the monsters they fight without those stupidly potent potions and acute knowledge of their weaknesses.
    2. The atmosphere. The game may be ugly up close, but every single map, every environment oozes with dreary medieval vibes or swampy fantasy. I don’t even think I can say that it’s good “for a low budget game” because the atmosphere stands the test of time. The developers had an idea for how the game should feel as soon as they started designing it and it shows.

I went back to play the first 2 games before replaying the third and finally finishing CP2077 a few years ago because I wanted to see how CDPR’s skills changed, and honestly? They haven’t, at least not in regards to making a game immersive. The only thing that’s changed is the budget and scope of their games because holy hell I’ll be damned if every one of CDPR’s major releases hasn’t been among the most immersive video games ever created.

  • Rick’s obsession with McDonald’s’ Mulan-promotional szechuan sauce wasn’t really generation-defining, but it definitely was one of the bigger moments where internet nerds crawled out of their caves and into the social spotlight for a hot minute. Still can’t believe people got violently enraged over that
