  • How important is a VPN to you?

  • Same here. My mobile provider blocks the standard VPN ports, and also access to other DNS servers, so I am pretty sure, their low price means they are selling my data. Going through a VPN on a non-standard port to my home network, from where I can go out through DNS over https and also a pi-hole, and being protected by my own firewall, gives me the (false?) feeling of an additional layer of security.

  • Your entire life gets turned into a movie / short series by the best filmmaker in the world with unlimited budget, do you like your movie? How do you think people would rate it?

  • Oh, i love these movies, where I can relax in my arm chair and just nod off, then wake up for the news. My movie would be one of those.

  • I run ClamAV regularly, and it has not found anything on my several systems in the last 20 years. Good to know we're safe, or are we?

    I'm more concerned about rogue browser extensions that may be innocent when you install them, but then change owners, and after an update that you don't even notice are going to do bad things.

  • I mainly protect my company secrets by encrypting it and hope for the best. Else, it's just the normal stuff, that is nobody else's business. But then, i am glad that i am old and likely won't have to live in a dystopian place like this world seems to be going towards.

  • Nothing good comes from hate. Hate is an emotion, and when you're emotional, you cannot fix or improve things.

  • Why not? You must be young. As an elder I can tell you from experience that one can have sex more than once; before, during and after dinner if needed.

  • I am pretty sure that every data they ever gathered about you is still there, just marked as hidden. Data is their currency; you don't throw that away.

  • I set it like this in .vimrc

    set clipboard=unnamedplus

    But when I yank anything, I cannot insert it somewhere else with ctrl-c.

  • Of all of these things, i only miss a shared clipboard between Vim and the rest of the system (or vice versa). That would be rad!

  • Yes, I touch type on a normal US keyboard (US international layout). As i lost some feeling in my finger tips due to age, I made my own dimples on the F and J keys, and some additional ones on the 3 and 8 keys for when I can't use the numeric keypad (which I can touch type too).

  • I am not really scared. But that's because i am old and will most likely not live long enough to experience all the negative things that will hit us. Yet, my heart goes out to you youngsters, and i do hope you can fix at least some of the issues that are about to kill this world.

  • Why do people switch from chrome to Brave browser and not to Firefox?

  • We learned that from politics in general. Vote for the lesser evil, not for the optimal choice, as there is none, sadly.
