  • This is kind of an info dump and I havent fully gone through to verify everything but this is a guide from a trusted ytber explaining step by step how he setup and managed his self hosting environment.

For a more bite sized entry into self hosting just join the community (like you are now) and learn about the different services people are hosting and when one sounds good then look into how to set it up and ask questions along the way.

  • His steamdeck

  • I can't say what messages uninformed people of the public got. I'm can only comment on what I saw democrat politicans saying in their speeches and posts and how it doesnt align with what you say.

Personally i think "not trump" is a perfectly fine platform to run on and any reasonable voter shouldnt find that to be a hard choice but dems decided to campaign on normal stuff like cost of living and economics.

  • Do you really think they were campaigning on no issues and only the fact they werent trump?

  • Devs complain thats it hard and feels like a lottery but thats just because there are so many good games on steam its so hard to standout. Game making is very competitive, very work intensive and very unpredictable.

  • I'm the opposite, I find user assigned tags to be far more accurate. Otherwise every game would be put into the most generic categories. From my experience the tags are generally accurate.

  • He wasnt talking about search it was about algorithmic recommendation.

But you can filter by multiple tags. When you click search select the advanced search at the bottom of the dropdown. It does all the things you mention and far more

  • Its funny that windows users are asking for the most basic shit like searching their own computer and Microsoft is like nah im going to give you bing and ads

  • Is discovery a dumpster fire? I mean sure it could be better but I dont think its a dumpster fire. It seems there are constantly new small team indie games doing wild numbers on the platform. If discovery was truely bad we would be seeing the charts dominated by big studios.

  • How?

  • I know this is pedantic but Linux does give users the free to do this. They just need to add a patch to their desktop and patch their app to make it so.

  • SteamOS kinda has it easy. They target a single device and are able to deploy a new image and fall back if it fails. They also have a beta channel of nerds to test all the shit.

  • Ray tracing sucks so much ass. What a waste of preformance.

  • Spam protection. Account age gating. Keywords that can trigger a reply. Auto tagging. Stat tracking eg top posters, biggest down voters etc. R9k mode so every post must be unique. Forced text only.

  • I just hate how top doesnt format the values into mb, gb and tb. Its 2025 we dont need to see things in bytes. It makes me skip top and go straight to htop

  • I think their update model is actually great. People are super hesitant to have apps auto update but its important to push out security updates quickly to minimise damage. It can be easily disabled if you insist on manually updating.

  • Freshly dead body I'd probably not worry about the size. Rotting I'd want at least two Olympic pools worth of distance and I'd still have my swimming ruined.

If it was the ocean I'd probably swim 100m away cause tides and wind are moving things around.

  • Osrs is great for chatting with random strangers.

World 1/2 varrock west bank, f2p draynor willows, fishing spot at barb village. Any skilling spot usually has people chatting while they do their very afk skills.

  • Crazy it took this long tbh. Looking at Old school should have been enough of an example. But Jagex in typical Jagex fashion cant do anything and requires the community to stop the game driving off a cliff.

(Yes I am Jagex biggest hater)

  • Its what you do when you naturally want to point but dont want to be seen as rude and aggressive.
