  • They get criticised all the time for this wtf is this guy on about?

  • I'm genuinely shocked out often windows drivers have issues. Fuck you HP your services are not worth the money but you got upper management hooked.

  • Its a hard balance to strike but suggesting linux does actually add something. Linux does not have a marketing team. People need to find out linux is an alternative somehow.

  • I like inzoi's use of AI. I think its really cool and its much needed to fill the content gap that the decade old sims franchise has until the inzoi community can step in and create some content.

  • What's the brown dice for?

  • Nah i dont agree. There are 10000s of jobs available in most places so I dont buy that. You may have to take a paycut or work a harder job but the option is there in most cases. You can always start your own little business.

Morally questionable is different that fundamental ethical disagreement. I feel that these are places you cannot work at. You'd be completely comprising your values which is fine you can technically still hold those values but it makes your values meaningless.

It would be like me saying that I'm against factory farming then working at a factory farm 40hr a week doing the exact thing I'm supposedly against. I'd have to ask myself am I really against this. Or working for ice under the trump admin. You have to admit that your value is meaningless there because when faced with the choice your values crumbed.

  • I wouldnt have the issue because i wouldnt take a job if it crossed my ethical or moral lines. You always have a choice.

I'm shocked at how many people are saying its fine. The options aren't work at a place or starve. Why are we acting like there are no decent businesses and acting like you can't start your own. Most companies arent bad, they just do standard boring everyday services.

You dont live in lockheedville where the only employer is Lockheed and they force you to design more efficient killchains or you'll starve and die.

  • Theres a few things that its just nice to check. I use it all the time to see what version of KDE plasma/mesa/kernel I'm running and how full all my drives are.

  • Me on gentoo with my fucked up GCC and python versions. I must have spent so many hours compiling trying to get this shit to the right versions on a Chromebook with very little disk space.

Its cooked, I know its cooked but i dont want to go through the effort of reinstalling.

  • My first introduction to the TA series was BAR and I went and tried faf. My main downside is the units look so cool but you have to spend so much time zoomed out I feel you never get to appreciate the battles.

  • Yes

  • The benefit to me is that snaps update as soon as the patch is pushed and they sandbox better than flatpak. Its also easier to maintain a snap from a dev perspective (idk if thats true I just read it on some fourm)

I prefer flatpak because i like the name and flathub better but the development has kind of stagnated and a lot of their benefits are non existent. Flatpak sandbox is kind of a meme at the moment because most apps ask for way to many perms just to work.

  • I normally just send an email thats very short saying im resigning effective this date then give 2 - 4 weeks notice.

  • Thats a beautiful rack

  • The core issue with social media isnt the medium its the platforms and how they influence user behaviour.

On the fediverse there does exist some of the same issues as Instagram etc but instead of the platform working to keep the user in this cycle of negative feedback and behaviour the fediverse gives the user the tools and even encourages the user to use in a healthier manner. Examples being settings to toggle inf scroll, content warning, keyword filtering, chronological feed, no ads, no UI Dark Patterns.

  • If youre wearing anything more than this you are over dressed

  • you might have the 'kills battery' setting disabled

  • You can. But people want more than what static sites are able to provide. Our computers and Infra are incredibly capable and we dont need to artificially limit ourselfs to static webpages.

I love browsing static blog sites but even I'll admit I'd quickly get bored if we had no JavaScript web apps.

  • Everything is compiled from source. This allows a few advantages, hardware specific optimisation, choosing which parts of the software you actually need eg disabling bluetooth support and being able to patch and modify the packages. Plus the gentoo community is friendly, smart and very Helpful.
