  • Well I think it's cool! I studied Russian at uni and I'm taking Japanese evening classes at the moment, so I know both the struggle and the joy of learning both.

  • No worries! Sorry if I came across as overly abrasive about someþing þat doesn't really matter, I just really dislike misguided prescriptivism

  • Stop talking about the "correct" usage. This is an idea based on how it's used in one particular context. Eth and thorn were used interchangeably by English scribes for centuries, so there's nothing wrong with using thorn exclusively.

  • Silence, Owl. Anki supremacy till the end.

  • Krankenwagen and Aufenthaltserlaubnis

  • アウフェントハルツエルラウブニスさんはどこですか?

  • おはよう、クランケンバーゲンさん!

  • Not just single books. Single chapters.

  • Well that makes no sense. If your view is that "it's an acronym or it isn't" then you pronounce it as individual letters or as a word. But the reality of language is much messier than arbitrary rules people come up with. If people pronounce it as if it's a word in its own right, that means that's how it works. Just as with laws of physics, if what we observe contradicts the rule, the rule was wrong.

  • Manjaro my beloved

  • The problem is the spelling, not the language. But the problem with spelling reform is that it necessarily favours certain dialects over others so you can never please everyone.

  • Basically there's no proofI watched this a while ago so I can't remember everything, but I think essentially it boils down to someone having suggested the idea that it could have been a cosmic ray and the idea was propogated by memes and YouTubers as fact, even though there's no proof and the odds of it being a cosmic ray are astronomically small, pun intended.

  • I would argue everyone can be an artist. In my opinion at least it's more of a matter of effort and passion than talent, although of course talent helps you to achieve your artistic vision.

  • Of course

  • We can't let the far right have a monopoly on cool aesthetics

  • If this is too NSFW, please let me know, I haven't posted here before

  • What

  • That's brilliant, I hope it's true

  • Wait, didn't I just see a meme about- ach ja, Kühe sind unterbewertet
