  • Could very well be Gendo, because he’s spearheading the whole operation. The country and its government are two separate entities

  • This is only partially true, as the First Amendment states “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.” As you can see, practice of religion is not prohibited. My main point is that prayer will probably not have any meaningful impact on the success of immoral decisions.

  • I controversially agree, freedom of religion is a fundamental part of the United States’s identity. However, these people could always be praying for terrible things, so there’s a definite duality to this image. That being said, I think that religion can be seen as a mixture of freedom of speech and expression; I believe that this is a human right. Secondly, since I’m assuming that most of you are atheists here, why should you worry about what they are even praying for? If atheism states that there is no all-powerful deity, then this bickering is meaningless. If Christianity and its teachings happen to be true, then it is certain that the Christian God would never be in favor of what’s currently happening. For example, Mark 12:31 states “The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.” Which is the complete antithesis towards current events. As you can see, both possibilities show that God or not, the current administration is not supported by either.

  • I’d be too paranoid to use my phone in the shower, it’s covered with cameras and microphones and may be full of backdoors as well.

  • I’ve wondered that myself, but I’ve come to the conclusion that transgender individuals seem to value their privacy more than the average person. This is all due to increased cyber bullying to them online. Linux is well known for being free from data collection (except Ubuntu) and corporate greed, so it would make sense if this was an operating system of choice.

  • It is definitely a nazi salute, but what if he didn’t mean it this way? Elon is supposedly on the spectrum, so he could have done it to show his excitement, without realizing the true meanings and implications. Of course it’s possible that he did in fact know what he was doing, if so then it’s a completely different story….

  • I’m probably going to look at Dell or Lenovo for a next laptop, they tend to be of higher quality. Plus old thinkpads are fast and inexpensive, so I may start looking at eBay for a good deal.

  • The current picture is of a browser (Floorp).

  • I haven’t ever been playing media when it happens, so I’m not sure. Also yes, I have tried plugging in external monitors, or trying to ssh in, but none work. It’s as if the computer freezes as well.

  • Mildly Infuriating @lemmy.world

No one: Laptop. Could this be hardware or software related?

  • Anyone with half a brain can see that it isn’t “glorifying” violence, it’s merely giving an explanation of why Luigi did what he did. Glorification would play more into pathos, but the manifesto is mostly ethos

  • I’m glad I wasn’t the only one who watched this movie, and to think Linux users did too!

  • In my opinion, technology keeps improving, however that doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s getting better. I think innovation in technology peaked from the 2000s to the early 2010s, after this period however, it has continually become more and more “enshitified,” meaning that features no one wanted suddenly being added. For example, “ai coffee maker” (this is real), like who asked for this? Not to mention, not only is everything more bloated, but levels of privacy have decreased significantly; every aspect of your digital life is capitalized on for advertising. The early 2010s were simpler times.

  • This would be awesome, but something else I thought of would be DRM. If you don’t have the correct version (like Linux and a few android custom roms) then you would stream at really low quality. So if you even came up with a free smart tv os, it would lack quality streaming

  • I wouldn’t say better, it is all based on preference. And it was already mentioned.

  • Seems like Tor snowflake is a proxy that makes your internet traffic appear as a video call. Its purpose is to circumvent censorship, but it may get around firewalls as well. I have no experience bypassing firewalls using snowflake, but it may be a viable option (someone correct me if I’m wrong) https://snowflake.torproject.org/

  • I’ve checked it out, and it looks really good, sort of like arc browser. It’s very stylish, and since it’s Firefox-based, supports ublock origin. It’s obviously not finished yet though, so I’ll stay on Floorp until it reaches beta or stable. I’m totally switching once it gets there

Ending support for Windows 10 could send 240 million computers to the landfill. Why not install Linux on them?
