  • There have been a few studies that say scams, discrimination, racism and bullying will increase when people are forced to use their real name. In this case it's probably because off a different reason, but still.

  • Had the same feelings going to a Taylor Swift concert with my grilfriend as a middle age man. Turns out, nobody paid attention to me because they where to busy screaming their lungs out and filming the show. Yeah, I could be a background stander in someone's video, but they definitely would be the main character, not me. Everybody was there to have a good time and enjoy the artists and other people's outfit. Don't worry, you'll do fine. Especially if you also like the music, that will be a connection. And usually the crowd for these artists will make you forget being uncomfortable and you start dancing and singing yourself a bit. Because if you see people crying, screaming, moving as if they are epilleptic but actually are dancing, you are less bothered with how you yourself look. Only regret I had was that I didn't get to experience the whole living up to the concert feeling, just because of the anxiety.

  • Thanks, that's good to know. Going to update it right away, hopefully this will solve my problem.

  • That looks nice. Added it to my list to look at. Thanks.

  • You've got a good point with Home Assistant. I have automations setup so that I barely have to do anything manually. So I almoat forget that Home Assistant runs quite a lot in my home. And especially in the beginning it was nice to setup but not really needed. Know it is needed.

  • I didn't know if this was something I was missing, but man this could be my new number 1. The import function is really great. I've already added a lot of recipes. Thanks!

  • I've installed it as well but the blackout/redact feature didn't work as expected..So not sure if it will be that useful for me. But since I ditched Adobe, I now at least have a PDF editor.

  • You've just made me waste the next 2 days, because this sounds great! Only thing I'm a bit hesitant about is trusting all bridge makers. I'm a bit more aware that I use a lot of FOSS where it could be easy for the dev's to just go rogue. But that's still better than giving it away to some closed source company.

  • Looks really great. I'm depending on Synology for CalDav and WebDav but if I can move away from that to make switching NAS in the future easier, that would be great.

What is a service you host you never knew you needed?

  • This isn't a too shabby of an idea. It probably won't be used but a mix of stores and homes in one building sounds great.

  • I can't seem to find a limit with https://addy.io It certainly doesn't tie it to a certain website.

  • I see a lot of people have big meta thoughts and feelings. But mine is relatively small. I find that I live in a different reality since a lot of co-experienced events are remembered differently by the others. Let's say a work meeting, when I think that it was a nice calm and friendly meetig others are heated and steaming by all the insults. The same with emails and other communications Also with a sportmatches. For instance when I really enjoyed a match and thought both teams did a nice job of performing, the media paints a vastly different picture where one team was really awful and performed well belowed standards.

So my perception of reality seems really of from the rest of the population.

  • I don't get why they say that? Sure, maybe the attackers don't know that I'm on Ubuntu 21.2 but if they come across https://paperless.myproxy.com and the Paperless-NGX website opens, I'm pretty sure they know they just visited a Paperless install and can try the exploits they know. Yes, the last part was a bit snarky, but I am truly curious how it can help? Since I've looked at proxies multiple times to use it for my selfhosted stuff but I never saw really practical examples of what to do and how to set it up to add an safety/security layer so I always fall back to my VPN and leave it at that.

  • Got my head straight to this short (sorry, it's Youtube): hehe

  • I don't think so. I do have a keychron keyboard, but that's just USB C I believe.

  • Going to try both. Someone else mentioned the dummy HDMI plug as well, so I got good hopes for that. Also going to look into Incuss. Never heard of it before.

  • Thanks, going to do this as well. I had it on a monitor for a while and all looked fine while logged in on the console. Would be a bummer though if this would be true.

  • Hmm, this does sound like it makes sense. I got the feeling that as soon as I removed the monitor it would stop working in a couple of minutes. But I thought that couldn't be. Thanks for the tip! Going to see if that helps and I'm going to update the BIOS.

  • Thanks, will do.
