I'm beautiful and tough like a diamond...or beef jerky in a ball gown.

  • For the longest time (relatively speaking), I would do full stack Javascript (like the meme). But I have to frequently tie into AD/LDAP and the only decent NodeJS library for LDAP is no longer maintained because the community was shitty to the dev. Now I've had to venture out into Go (I can't stand working in Python).

Let this be a reminder to be nice to the developers who are giving you their hard work for free.

  • Unfortunately, our WAF appliances don't have a Heisenberg compensator.

  • "I get why we have a WAF, but can't you just, like, separate the good SQL injection from the bad SQL injection?" -- Developers I work with 😆

  • Thanks :)

My home instance has some top-shelf custom emojis, so I try to use them. Janeway's eye roll gets a lot of mileage.

  • Agh. Beat me to it. 😆

  • I work with several people who would think this is a good idea.

When they push it to prod, and our WAF goes 403 on every request, then suddenly it's my problem to "fix".

  • That's not wrong, but in this case, PlatformIO isn't showing these ads, bit [dot] ly is. AFAIK, only bitly gets the ad money.

  • It's the VSCode IDE that does it, it seems.

    Ugh..

  • Trekmovie.com: Scott Bakula-Led ‘Star Trek: United’ Pitch Explores Archer’s Family, Romulan War Aftermath

    Jump
  • If Paramount doesn't pick it up, they should at least offer the idea to David Mack or one of the Trek novel authors. Would make a great series.

  • Paper Dolls in English

  • 1 is "Gladiator"

    4 is "Black Swan"

    9 is "Office Space"

10 is "Harry Potter" (which I've actually never seen, but I do recognize Delores Umbridge from other memes)

  • "Wear a human suit to hide your weird real self"

  • Lol, of course. I need to do a re-watch.

  • I've heard that before but cannot place it. What is that from?

  • For best results, it depends on the context.

For example, when I'm dealing with people who cannot (or refuse) to do the simplest of tasks, I've found myself muttering "ugh, just read the instructions I wrote you troglodyte".

  • Nice, and yeah, definitely. Until my senior year English class, the only books were were allowed to use for any reading assignment were Shakespeare or Newberry award books.

  • Definitely different experiences, but yeah, agree. Generally, I only like to listen to the audiobook after I've read it (unless there's no other option). It's difficult for me to not miss important plot points when I'm listening to it, but that's probably just my ADHD.

  • I just started this one yesterday. Enjoying it so far. I'm only a few chapters in, but it definitely fills in a lot of blanks from PIC S1 like "Who is Raffi and why are she and Picard suddenly BFFs?" After reading her introduction, yeah, I'd want to be best friends with her, too.

It puts so much of the first season into context that I felt was missing when I watched it.

    Thanks for the recomendation.

  • The genre doesn't exist, but it should: "Bedtime Stories: Narrated by Morgan Freeman and Stepehn Fry".
