  • Do you have link to an article about that, sounds crazy.

  • Syncthing enjoyer

  • Is that another American thing? Seems like a dumb idea if you have at least a handful of braincells.

  • I do agree entirely, I also live in a very car dependant country and traveling is very complicated for me because I refuse to use a car.

  • Yes I do agree, I do not think all cars should be destroy right this moment, but the reliance on cars in our current society can be greatly decreased via proper public transportation just like the reliance on diesel generators (on the society level) is negligible because of our electric system.

  • No my problem is not with the diesel generator, I wanted to contradict the individualistic approach to transportation in our current society with the collectivistic approach of something like our energy grid.

There was another example with septic tanks vs plumbing. You can say the same for drilling wells vs again plumbing I guess.

Solar microgrids are very interesting technology in particula and very positive again because you can connect and coordinate them collectively with you neighbors for example. With the added benefit of flexibility and resilience the current grid doesn't have.

  • Yes, but one system is destructive, polluting and shifts the cost of transportation on the individual. So one system is clearly better here. That is why no one (ok very few people) who have electrified house or apartment decides "you know what I will need a diesel generator".

  • Yes, thank you. Very well said.

  • Renting a car is more expensive than owning?

Edit: Let me clarify, renting car for the days you need it or even hourly is no way more expensive than owning one. Except if you use it for work, and that is not going to work but working trades for example like restoring second hand furniture.

  • Except if your car is too small for them, and also how often does this happen and why not use a rental?

  • Oh I see, my argument didn't make sense for you because you aren't the brightest, good luck buddy.

  • Like what?

  • I have, it is great there is also train to there and a bus to my family's out of town house. And no power outages even tho it's a small town.

  • Have you ever lived somewhere else, you can see how good life is when you have both proper electrification and good public transportation

    P. S. I am not telling you to move, I am wondering does my argument make no sense to you because you don't know anything better.

  • For the low low price of your kidney and the environment and all the car deaths, great deal I think. /s

  • That is not exactly the point, the point I was making is that utility like electric is a public utility provided for use, just as public transportation can be. But we are stuck in thinking about the car in that private mindset that if we apply to utility like electric is like having a diesel generator powering your home.

  • What is your point?

  • Popos is easy to config and easy to install software on so I would go with that.

  • I am still on the last alpha, it is good, no problems so far.
