If full time Walmart employees need government assistance programs to afford food and pay their rent, is it not Walmart who is leaning on government assistance?

  • Lol nope, black altima. No doubt they didn't fix it though, I kinda doubt they have a single mechanic across their entire business. Interestingly in Peurto Rico they have a contract with pep boys to fix their cars so you never have to return them to the station. When the only one we ever saw was in San Juan that was appreciated.

Actually think it was a Maxima, not Altima

  • Yikes, I wouldn't drive that either

  • I'm getting better at it. Unfortunately still end up getting a lot drop shipped from them.

  • Lol I just found it funny. I know a few people, mostly people from Mexico, that prefer instant. It's weird but all the power to ya. The only crappy thing about it is that it's harder to avoid nesco and similarly evil companies when you do that.

  • All you really can do. They'll usually say they don't have one and you'll just have to call around. Big headache overall

  • Some of these newer alloy wheels are harder to mount. If you let them know there's a history of leaks on that tire they may apply tar to the rim which can go a long way. My car has had a lot of issues on one tire until I found the right mechanics, ironically they were also the cheapest (small business who specialize in used tires). Later after getting new tires the problem went away without the tar, so I think it comes down to surface prep.

  • Maybe I'm snobbish, but instant vs drip vs French press vs americano all taste different and Americano is so much better it was this or a bialetti moka express. My wife said she'd never use the stove top one and I've made over 10,000 espresso shots so far, so I'd wager I would have eventually caved in and bought a super automatic anyways. It may have paid for itself in electricity tbh.

  • An m8 and m10 bolt from ace hardware with corresponding washers. Big spender

  • Mildly Infuriating @lemmy.world

4 leaky tires on the same rental, overfilled to compensate

  • I think it blends the line a bit the more you know someone. There are selfish things that you can do without it being narcissistic and everyone can get to a point where from the outside it looks selfish, but context changes that calculation.

Whenever someone is selfish and throws me under the bus or asks for far more than what they give I try my best to come up with excuses for them. Usually this is the right approach and saves me from making an ass out of myself and allows me to "be there" for more people who truly need it, but sometimes I'm searching for that excuse so long or gaslight myself into thinking up a good excuse and I end up as a narcissist's host for a while.

Personally, evil has to be clear, even when devoid of nuance or context.

  • It's very telling that despite changing to the "settings" menu for user settings, they've still got links to the old menus 10+ years later. I think the powertoys community has done more windows feature adds than Microsoft has in the last 20 years.

  • Never met what I'd describe as a truly evil person, but definitely a lot of narcissistic people whose selfishness and lack of self awareness have caused numerous instances of wondering if they were in fact just evil people.

  • Just going out on a limb, but with windows 11 being so similar to 10, it would make sense to continue to port updates over to 10 that are fully compatible. That being said, feature updates are over.

  • Every sitcom character ever. Also Dora the Explorer

  • Windows 98 SE

  • I'd probably have to go with English so we could communicate better.... but French sure is tempting:

I was under 18 when I first watched that video... 18 years ago. Now Henri and I have so much in common.

  • I don't think that term is very descriptive to describe a group of people that hold such a wide array of opinions. Many of them have missed the mark so brutally that I no longer engage with their content, contrapoints fir example. Others like Hasan, HBomberguy, and Vaush have avoided sticking their foot in their mouths much better. Humanist Report is probably the best source of good takes that I've seen.

  • An arduino would pair well and do some pretty cool stuff, maybe motivate them towards coding. They make some Lego compatible projects too. Maybe also typing challenge games or offline only minecraft

  • Cleaning helps undeniably force you to acknowledge that you asserted control over your situation and did something good with it. Keep finding moments to overcome the negativity inherent in depressive thoughts and it will have nothing on you any more. Depression's remedy is usually to take better care of yourself and it makes you not want to, this is why it's so horrible to overcome, but it can be done with consistent benefits of the doubt to yourself and improving your surroundings one day at a time.

  • I know most internet people are ready to offer psychological advice at the drop of a hat, but this is really a question for a therapist because every situation is different and we don't know your struggles even close to enough to speculate.

This doesn't seem like something to rush into, personally.
