  • Coolio was a part of a group called WC and the MAAD Circle. Hard to tell but it might be them.

    Edit

They were also featured on a track from the same album. I'd say there's a good chance it's them.

  • You'd come in and slap down your penny and they would go "we can't charge less than a penny so do you want one or two?"

  • Sorry you're getting down voted but it's fact. I work in the tech industry and I've got some friends in the games industry. Everyone uses AI in some way. People want to fool themselves into thinking it's just a handful of mega corps but it's being used in everything we consume in small ways we can't see in the end result. The genie is out of the bottle and the line between what is AI and what isn't AI is going to vary wildly from person to person.

  • Once again, what's the value here. We only see AI when it's someone who's not very good with Mid Journey prompts. We're getting to the point where people are using these tools in ways that no one will know the difference.

Content aware fill in photoshop has been around forever. AI.

If ask chat gpt what this unreal engine error message means. Al.

if get a quick llm made script to tune up Some physics, Al.

If the guy making the music generates some starter melodies. AI

If l generate a rock texture and clean it up myself to the point where no one knows. Al.

All of this is AI and all of this will go unseen to the end user, so once again we'll be expecting developers to self report and only the honest ones will.

Here's a test give yourself 1 or 2 seconds to make up your mind. https://www.sporcle.com/games/Raydon/image-real-or-ai-generated

It's tough isn't it and this is you analyzing the pixels, something we don't do passively.

  • It's already got a name, AGI... Artificial general intelligence

  • What's the value here? This is based on the developer saying so and there's no obligation to do so. Black Ops 6 is loaded with Gen AI, the loading screens are obviously Mid Journey like and some of the actors have been replaced by digital performances which was in the news. They won't get tagged here for AI because it's not in the description.

So basically this is going to just have people filtering out devs who are honest and realistically that'll just be a few indie devs who had to use these tools because they're a one man team that can't afford artists.

I think we have to face the facts. Every game is going to be using these tools going forward. If you run a large studio and say no one use AI I bet you your artists are still speeding up making base textures. Your music guy is generating some starter melodies. Your writers are drafting up some filler to pad out the supplementary text.

These tools are as ubiquitous as photoshop (which has had content aware fill all the way back to CS-fucking-5) and unreal engine now (which has added it's own AI features). The idea that's there's only a handful of shady individuals and mega-corps using these tools is naive.

  • Exactly. This is the result of human interference, AI inherently doesn't have this level of censorship built in, they have to be censored after the fact. Like imagine a Lemmy admin went nuts and started censoring everything on their instance and your response is all fediverse is bad despite having the ability to host it yourself without that admin control (like AI).

AI definitely has issues but don't make it a scapegoat when we should be calling out there people who are actively working in nefarious ways.

  • So did someone make this with AI 🤔

  • Hands trembling. You reach into your pocket and pull out your phone. Opening the browser you type in deviant art and open a collection you've named Rule 34

  • It's confusing, the gameplay looks smooth enough, little inconstant but not unplayable. The cut scenes look like they're 7 frames a second.

  • This is why they rarely pull your whole library, it's too noticeable and all these services have is public faith they're going to still be there. More often the case you'll just lose access to a purchase here and there and usually goes undetected especially if you have a large collection.

  • Yea Audible too. I can't remember the name of the tool but you can connect to your account and it pulls all your purchases locally DRM free. It was handy for setting up Audiobookshelf

  • Exactly. I wish these types of posts would change "music these days" to "pop these days" because that's what they're talking about.

It's debatable when pop actually began but pop as we know it really codified in the 80s with dawn of MTV and acts like Madonna and Michael Jackson. The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Queen, etc were popular but I wouldn't classify any of this as Pop. Pop has always been pretty people because it was by its nature tied to a visual medium.

People need to stop using Pop as a stand in for all music. We have more access to music than ever before and a lot of the music I listen to regularly, I have no idea what they look like.

  • The Leftovers. If I were to ever put together a top 10 list of personal favorites, this would be at the top then in a distant second I could start ranking the rest. I love how fully realized its concepts were. I love how it stuck true to its convictions right up to the end. I love the mashup of science fiction and fantasy and grief and contemporary life. I love the beautiful Max Richter score. For a show that starts pretty bleak in the first few episodes you really feel the love and warmth by the end of the series and the discovery of inner piece.

I always like to add this caveat to anyone jumping in, the first half of season one can be tough. Episode 3 is a good taste of what the show is at its best and episode 6 is one of the best in the series and the point where most people are fully hooked.

  • Biggest thing I miss about the old Pixels was this because you could swipe it to pull the notifications bar down. It worked system wide so you could during a game or video just pop it down to check time or settings and just flick it away without moving your hand to the top of the phone.
