  • the collector and the seller know

So you have never bought or inherited an old collection - large boxes rather than single books? "Going to sort them later..." :)

  • I would assume that every serious collector of books, everybody who has more than a few shelves full, has not read all of them.

  • Article 5 doesn't actually oblige NATO members

I do not share your interpretation (although I know that it has been the popular one recently).

    I read it like this:

    1. The obligation is out of any question: they "will" assist.
    2. The goal of all measures is defined: "restore [...] peace and security".
    3. The choice of measures isn't totally free. It must fit to that goal.

So, yes they can decide whether or not no use force, but they cannot follow random political agendas there.

And not fold paper airplanes instead of real ones :)

  • Greenland is not a nato member

That's like saying your right arm isn't a human.

Greenland is simply a part of Denmark, so it is a NATO member.

  • USA itself would violate it's own membership. With such an act it became the enemy of the NATO.

  • Surely we would not have our bodies so full of microplastic if our stomachs could destroy them.

  • Don't you have a PIN on your phone at all?

  • Home Assistant users I know love the way it integrates all their smart devices together, but say they find making good dashboards difficult.

Same here. And all these dashboard developments have made more fancy features, but have not made the whole thing any easier so far.

  • Asking was unthinkable. At 17 I was glad when they informed me :)

  • Nice try, Bezos

  • Mujahideen in Afghanistan or on the front lines of Korea or any of a dozen other proxy wars.

I do not count these as the Cold War.

Proxy wars have their special funding and maybe false motives, but they are hot wars. Real wars.

The Cold War consisted of threats. Piling up weapons, bombs, nukes, and counting and comparing who's got more of them. These threats were made mainly by politicians. Maybe I was wrong in saying they "fought" it.

  • Who exactly

Some AI or other, at some 3 letter agency, but they will never tell you exactly.

  • I am using one and I found it quite unreliable. Sometimes too sensitive, catches motion that happens far away. Often blind, just ignores the most obvious motion.

Plan on combining it with sensors of other technology to compensate that.

  • The U.S. is eyeing Greenland

I believe that the Great Tricktator is already determined to rob it. Question is only, how, that means, which exact tactic he is going to apply.

I am so fucking glad Europe got nukes.

The Cold War is over. We live in very different times now. Try to understand it.

    to further erode European sovereignty?

This whole situation is not about Europe. Europe is a mere nuisance.

  • This is how people brainwashed by capitalism would use it to deprive us all of the post-scarcity future.

    That doesn't work out. Unfortunately.

    Reason:

When it was politicians who fought the Cold War, they were few who had actually a say, and these few got some minimum brain, at least.

But in your scenario, it is random jerks who execute that scheme everywhere. There will be some who pull the trigger just for ... all kinds of stupid shit that has triggered them. So you'd have nukes going off somewhere, at least every few days, and then nobody can really rule the world anymore with them. The power of the threat will be gone.

  • I make another Elon.

And then another on the next day, and then another etc. When I have got a dozen of them, I let them loose on the real one and on each other and watch whatever happens.

    Next I make another Trump...

When a country is ruled by a dictator, does it matter which party he belongs to?
