  • Live with someone for at least a year before you marry them. You don't truly know if you can be with someone until you share a home and responsibilities.

  • Yeah, I know, it doesn't actually work, because capitalism is a joke. But you get the idea, I think

  • Let me run a linear regression and get back to you

  • I used to torrent frequently, but rarely software.Since I graduated and started making adult money I haven't really at all. When I want to vote with my wallet, I just don't play it at all (usually these are live service games anyways).

Although I'm going to start torrenting music and video again on principle.

  • That makes sense, its like overdosing on pot.

The last bit about radiation decreasing cancer risk in low (but still elevated) doses seems pretty suspect though. Where did you find that research?

  • What if I use it to caress my face? What about then?

  • That's true for radiation poisoning. I'm asking about increased risk of cancer.

Lots of those things in our natural environment that you mention do increase our risk of cancer, with long-term exposure

  • I guess a better way to phrase it would have been

How many daily bananaHours do you need long-term to increase your risk of cancer by 5%?

  • Edit: just added this to the post because commenting on my own post is stupid

  • I'm aware of BeD, which is the inspiration for the post.

But I'm not talking about radiation poisoning, because we'd know if spending a day in a banana plantation was fatal.I'm wondering about increased risk of cancer form long term banana plantation exposure.

  • Almost certainly. But I'm not going to eat thousands of bananas in a day.

  • Folks here are like "everyone uses it. Eventually all gamers realize it's better"

Me, having never even heard of this in my 30 years of gaming: 🫣

  • I bet it'll be great for people who are willing to sacrifice their personal data and the environment.

Because I mean, it'll learn your tastes and create hyper-personalized videos for exactly your tastes. But theyll also have a hyper-specific record of the kinds of things you like. How many people gonna give it access to all their chat histories and shit. God can you imagine the potential for leaks (pun intended)?

If eating a banana is ~0.1μSv, then what is holding a banana for an hour?

  • In my experience when I try to have a nuanced take, people (intentionally?) misinterpret my nuance and use it to put words in my mouth and build a straw man.

Also hot takes are just way more entertaining, and what is social media if not a new form of entertainment?

  • Not too far away yet.

There is a squid games reality show which is based on a game where they kill people, and they pretend to kill them in the show so it's being normalized.

And Mr beast has his gameshow which is similar, where they treat the contestants inhumanly just for the convenience of the production.

  • Also the cops can do whatever they want with impunity.

By the end, judy is BFs with the biggest mob boss in town, who she knows kills people.

  • Is it still an underpass if you're not passing anything? Is it still an overpass if you ain't over shit?

  • You'll never see me say this, CSIS

  • I mean, where is the line between what is and isn't a drug?

Sugar affects how you feel and is habit forming. Seems on par with caffine
