  • Reminds me of the tabs vs spaces thing from silicon valley

  • Btw, afaik we are now at a point where artists earn next to nothing from streaming and make the bulk of the money from tours, shows and the like.

Most of the money from your streaming subscription goes either to the service provider (Spotify, Apple etc) or to the major label.

  • Hear me out, type L, the one in the middle, is the best socket, as it has all the things you talked about, but also accepts Italian plugs.

Type L bipasso (the one on the side) instead is the most space efficient, while retaining type C compatibility and grounding. Type L plugs also have plastic bits at the end to avoid contact with live wire (like UK one).

  • If anomalies are detected, it tells your insurance company so they can increase your rates or drop you before you actually need to go to the hospital and cost them any money.

  • Yes, but that's beside the point. Most people use Steam not because of Linux support or because of BPM.

Valve hasn't revolutionized their business once Ubisoft, EA, Amazon, CDPR and Epic started to compete with them. They just kept doing what they were doing and eventually saw the bodies passing in the river

  • There's always someone in the world archiving stuff, and with GOG the installers can be shared freely if they ever close shop, since they don't have DRM. With Steam that can be a lot harder, depending on the DRM they have

  • A fediverse app to empower coops and smaller taxi companies and allow them to reach users could actually be a pretty good idea and a great way to reduce Uber's power

  • In Italy it's illegal to raise the price if you are using a credit card. The price needs to be the same no matter the payment method

  • Here goes to hoping that EU massages Whatsapp third party compatibility actually works. It would be great if Signal decided to enter the program, so that I could start recommending it to friends and family as a full on replacement, while not losing the ability to communicate with those who use WhatsApp.

I understand Signal stance, but it would honestly be better to have a mainstream alternative to Whatsapp that actually cares about privacy, rather than a niche product nobody uses

  • You can put bread in the freezer and it will keep extremely well. Absolutely avoid putting it in the fridge though.

You can then let it defrost naturally, or, if you slice it before freezing it, take out a couple of slices and put them in the toaster, after a couple of minutes is done, warm, and slightly toasted.

  • Ok, but this doesn't explain why you would choose to self-host VaultWarden rather than using BitWarden.

  • That's not at all how piracy works. They don't lose any money by me not buying their product, the money was never theirs to lose. They can earn money if I buy it, but if I don't, then nothing changed. It's not like every company is entitled to my money.

Pirating or using Gimp or Krita instead, has the exact same effect on them, ie me not buying their product.

  • Not without login, probably

  • There was once a term used for this, first world (US and allies) second world (USSR and allies) and third world (neutral-ish nations)

  • The original company was never Italian. The founder was Italian, but the company was incorporated in German Alsace, which then became French Alsace after the Great War. There was a brief attempt at a revival in Italy in the late 80s, early 90s, but it didn't really go anywhere. Today's company is French and is mostly controlled by the Croat Rimac (and partially by Porsche, which owns VW, which owns Porsche)

  • Italian cuisine is mid anyway someone should teach them about these crazy things called spices.

What's your favorite cuisine and where are you eating it?

  • Def not Italian. Never heard of it. The traditional Tuscan chicken recipe is "pollo alla cacciatora" and has nothing to do with this

  • It's not about the distro. Most distros out right now are pretty good. What you need is hardware that lots of people want to buy with Linux installed on it as the default choice. Normal people don't want to install any OS, be it Linux, Windows, removed or BSD. Whatever comes by default, it's good.

I'm pretty sure that right now the most popular Linux distros are ChromeOS and SteamOS. I wonder why
