  • Probs my next move. Waiting to move house and will likely do this…maybe with jellyfish. I am trying to degoogle and amazon and currently stremio is on firestick. Stremio has been great but as I said it’s not totally immune to outside factors. Thanks for the note. It helps that others have success and share so, it makes the leap seem smaller.

  • This has been working for me for a whilst however if one of the links in the chain goes down at some point then you have nothing to watch. I might even have to talk to my family!

I’m gonna start considering local server. I remember the good old days of getting up in the middle of the night to check limewire.

  • All I see is an extra layer of access to the information and an extra layer of interpretation from myself.

I have a friend who text me but does the voice message thing. It’s very frustrating why not just call it feels and awkward way of doing things.

Like others I also really don’t like the idea of other randoms. There is enough noise already around me I am trying to cut through. I kinda use lemmee as a simplified option of tech.

Are you asking because you want to train Ai voices or something?

  • How could you see this utilised to add value? Would they be synchronous, like rooms of people just talking or would it be stacks of recording that you have to press play on?

  • If I had a magic internet/media button I know what it would be.

It would be a brand banish button. If I see an ad, I wanna just have a button to banish them from all my devices…forever. I already have a rule you poss me off with adverts …I defo won’t buy.

So much tech potential that just does not exist!

  • Thanks for the response. I’ll take a look

  • Anyone found a convenient way for music that’s not perpuating a subscription? I’m an iPhone user and do like my tunes in the car. I’m good for movies shows etc. Dropped them all ages ago.

  • Yup another one.

  • I have this. Paid for these things through from cassette and VHS to cd/dvd then paying for streaming. I have paid over and over for some content. I hate subscriptions.

  • I totally agree. I just mentioned RKelly and MJ. I have had to stop listening. As time goes by more comes to light and I lose some good tunes.

  • Hmm I suppose I should amend. I have had this same dilemma with RKelly then MJ. I just can’t condone some artists.

  • Yeh I am not a gamer but have a family of them. As the tech person I’m usually the one dealing with purchases and set up. The evolution of gaming has become a real burden.

  • Piracy: ꜱᴀɪʟ ᴛʜᴇ ʜɪɢʜ ꜱᴇᴀꜱ @lemmy.dbzer0.com

Anyone ever want to pirate for moralistic reasons?

  • I know. It’s like some people are scared of interacting with real humans so they watch it instead.

  • Yup the hype around monetisation is a scourge. It makes you me question so much of what I see, do. I hate being so suspicious. I feel like even simple life transactions are up for sale ‘see this one cleaning hack to change your life’ … idiot on a video wanders around with a duster like it’s a new invention. Even idiots filming every bite of an average sandwich. I sound old.

  • Same for me. Im just trying to buy less.

  • I would pay not to see that sub. Joking wouldn’t pay a penny to Reddit. Why would anyone.

  • I have started this in the last year, I hadn’t considered it by breaking it down by media consumption/storage/browsing habits etc. I am so sick of feeling alike a sales target, and a tool that can be influenced. I do also like the idea of attacking it by provider. I have recently started to cut Amazon out, gotten rid of my Alexa’s, stopped buying and my fire sticks are going soon.

An area I struggle with is maps and travel. I am iPhone and I like to listen to tunes when I am driving and I rely on maps, for routes and to find local services coffee food etc. sometimes I feel like my own worst enemy in my quests.
