Pronouns: he/him

  • Beside the triggers, I really did like the Steam controller. My favourite is the touchpad which makes noises which I associated with Fallout which is oddly pleasing to hear

  • I mean, I have seen online of people playing older Windows games on Linux, Steam Deck especially. Even though it most likely not as huge market compared to [insert new game], there's still fair share people that would buy the old game, even if it may be troublesome to run especially on Windows 10/11.

  • Refusing to use social media like Snapchat, Instagram & Twitter. Major downside is my generation is mostly using them so I know fewer Zoomers on the Fediverse but honestly, I would take that over me comparing my body to guy's fitness picture and feeling insecure about it. Also, I barely interact with people I know in my high school and I to some extent, wish to be forgotten from them. Some really have messed with my mental health, that's all I will say.

  • What if we made a distro called Doors as a replacement for windows, but don't call it a distro? We don't even call it Linux. We just called it Doors.

So basically what Google did with ChromeOS? (Being quiet that it just a Linux distro) Yeah, no. I prefer distro that is transparent that it is Linux and doesn't try to make out or as vocal that their still a Linux distro.

    • "Normies" as I associate people who use that word a lot to be pretentious.
    • "Lolcow" which has history of Kiwi Farm user using that word to describe someone and cyberbully as well as dox them.
    • "Chav" as I feel classist to still use that term but as someone that's both working-class and lives in a rough area in UK, it hard to not describe some people as that term as christ.. they are aggressive, homophobic and transphobic.
    • BlockTube: Allows you to block YouTube Channels and Video as using "Do Not Recommend Channel" doesn't exactly work
    • Bitwarden - Loves the auto-fill feature
    • uBlacklist - More easier to block URL result on various search engine. Only use it as I can't be arsed tried to learn how to manually make filter on uBlock and want something that I can block Daily Mail on my search with just a click. It's just the job done so happy to use it.
  • 1. Lack of granular privacy / profile control

I mean, Lemmy is based on Reddit which you publicly discuss a topic. I'm not sure how having options to create a comment private benefits Lemmy at all unless you can give me a reason.

    2. Poor content discovery / lack of niche communities / limited diversity

To be fair on Lemmy, it is still new in compassion to Reddit so there would be as fewer communities compared to Reddit. If you don't mind being a moderator, you can always create a community which I can see some Lemmings would like to join.

    3. Fragmentation across instances / duplication of communities

I won't lie, it does confused me a bit as I tend to try at least find one that's more active and post from there. Also, it runs by different moderators which some their decision you may not be fond of so at least you have the same topic of the community but on different instance.

    8. Over-representation of particular content types (US-news, memes, agenda posts) and low content-quality

Read my opinion at point 2, think that pretty relevant. But yes, I agree there's lot of US-Based news and lucky for me, there's both an Lemmy instance and community for people in Britain (I'm born there) so it's nice reading news from my own country beside how incompetent Keir Starmer is.

The best if you want is following World News community or make one for whatever country you're in and try advertised it on Lemmy (please don't spam it on random threads, that won't be cool.)

  • Nope, they was abusive and controlling to me. I'm glad I did dump them via texts

  • I have low self-esteem and that's from just people been shitty to me. I could go on but I don't want to trauma dump (at least, try to prevent myself from doing it).

That being said, I'm planning to get therapy, go to more social events if I have the energy to do so and maybe next year, try get back to swimming. I stopped around when I was in lockdown in 2020 and I forgot about it since.

  • I will also say is that major reason why Steam has an monopoly is that they have invested their resources to streamline the PC gaming experience and also make gaming on Linux better as well as Steam controller which also allows us to remap control layout.

None the alternative does that and are just another DRM-Storefront. That's my major pet peeve with Steam alternative like Epic Games Launcher. Closest we have is GOG for to be able to download offline installer and most the games are DRM-free. Otherwise, I just would rather buy games on Steam as it just works for me.. 🤷

  • I can't imagine the alternative be less stretchy compared to Pornhub, not that Pornhub isn't a sketchy site in the first place

  • but I'm not sure USB-C output exists.

Not that I'm aware of, no. It's either HDMI or (if you getting the older Blu-ray player) one has Composite or Component output.

Now I'm also questioning the need of BluRay/image upgrade, as it shouldn't be too expensive.

You can always get it second-hand which would be cheaper than getting it new and make sure you don't connect to the internet.

Also as someone that has BluRay player, I prefer BluRay over DVD disc for it being in HD and also, it can still play DVDs. If you already have BluRay collection or don't mind spending a bit to get it on that format, go for it.

  • For people who want to read YouTube's statement about updating the guidelines

    • Graphic gaming content. In addition to our existing guidelines around graphic gaming content, we will age-restrict an additional small subset of video game content featuring realistic human characters that focuses on scenes of torture or scenes of mass violence against non-combatants. We’ll consider several factors when reviewing this type of content such as:
    • Duration - If the graphic scene is sustained (rather than fleeting). For compilation videos, we’ll now consider the cumulative duration of all of the graphic clips combined.
    • Prominence - If the violent imagery is zoomed-in or the main focus of the scene
    • Realistic human characters - If the violence is happening to a character that looks like a real human

I just know that age-restricted videos don't usually perform well and I have a bad feeling that we will see more censoring to make the video "monetizable". I watched some gameplay or even review which has gameplay footage in the background so I'm concerned if that would affect review as well as I like knowing roughly what the gameplay would be like

  • I personally prefer Lemmy Instances to be more personalised based on whatever theme/topic than a "one size, fits all". For example I'm on Lemmy.blahaj.zone which while is more for trans femme & trans women, I'm on it has it's queer-friendly. There used to be Lemmy instance for Autistic people which I remember was nice but it was shamed it got closed down.

Seeing same community name but on different instances is little overwhelming and I tend to post or use one that seems more active. I'll understand if that community in question has a moderator that does not great decision (like going too heavy on banning users or not doing anything about the bad-actors on that community) but otherwise, it just feels crowded and I had to spend couple minute to decide if a post I will make there will get as much attention compare to the other one.
