  • Depends on how it's used.

Right now it's used to replace skilled workers, be them artists, actors, or programmers.

I can certainly think of a few good uses for AI in games, but to a Corpo CEO "good use" = wider profit margins at the cost of humanity. And so we need to be informed about such things when we spend money on something that is by all rights an artform.

  • Switching to Linux, if the person is actually switching, can be seen as a rebellious action against the corporate, capitalist dystopia we're already in.

I consider this a good thing.

  • "It's not compatible with all games"

    "VR on Linux is trash"

"I can't play XYZ game because Linux isn't compatible with anticheat"

"Program XYZ doesn't have a Linux version, I don't want to learn a new program"

"Windows bloat never bothered me, I just ignore the AI/advertisements"

"I'm forced to use Windows because of my job"

"Linux is to complicated/troublesome. I just want something that works"

  • Valve has a lot of work cut out for them. Not on the development side as much as on the general adoption side.

  • I see Belter Creole and raise you Klingonese.

  • Their biggest market is teenage boys. So they're selling sex to horny teenagers.

  • Fire Emblem, where you can have a 3000 year old dragon, shaped, and acting like, a 10 year old girl, fuck her obsessed stalker to get all the child characters to contribute in your war.

I put the game down and never finished it...

  • To add to the post title:

Devs actively support the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Fuck them.

  • Sonic discovering caffeine would be the subject for an immediate emergency meeting of the UN Security Council.

  • What made me like Amos Burton (from the series, still have to read the book) is that he is self aware enough to know this about himself, and intelligent enough to understand it as a shortcoming in many situations.

He's a man where some part of him wants to do good, even be used for good, but doesn't know how. But he recognises good people, and anchors himself to those he believes can use him for good.

That somehow makes him smarter than most people in the series... Or in real life, for that matter.

  • I'm not sure... Elon is still praised as a visionary...

  • I mean... Yeah? In America, by the wrong sort of people, but... Yeah?

  • Fans bothered making a custom server? All one of them?

  • Im not the ones ignoring definitions, and calling Valve a monoply is bad faith in the first place.

  • You mean those same "comprehensive" definitions that failed with my argument?

  • Other corpos who cry about Valve providing a good service.

  • Silkeborg == Copenhagen

It's a 3F kursus centre. Nobody who went there came from Silkeborg. We were mostly from København and Aarhus.

And we still didn't sell Greenland to the Americans.

  • You know, in the trailer they did say "we're not talking about that yet" when referring to the Steam Deck.

So there's probably a Steam Deck 2 in the works, and if it runs on ARM the battery life would be amazing. Though... I wonder if that matters when it still needs to process x86 instructions.

  • Yeah, like you said, significant development of VR on Linux. But that also depends on the price tag.

VR on Linux is functional, at can work. But it requires a bunch of set up and can also just break down very easily too. VR on Linux is almost like what gaming on Linux was before Proton. If Valve can do to VR what they did with Proton then I'm sure I can convince a whole bunch of people to switch to Linux.
