  • I feel the someway about people who say "I'm moving to Linux after W10 support ends".

I think it takes one of two things for people to move.

    1. Linux has to have several features that are unavailable on Windows that makes it worth swapping.
    2. Windows has to do something so egregious that they no longer consider it viable.

In my case, I swapped back 3 years ago when ads appeared in explorer for a preview version. In combination with the work the community had done for Valve to consider the steam deck worth selling with Linux, I was confident enough that I could have a good enough experience with Linux.

  • The cable is only rated for so much power, which could be too much for double 8 pins. Having two operated cables ensures it can handle the load.

I personally used a single cable that carried double 8 pin. At some point, I had issues with my system crashing under GPU load. After investigating, I found that the GPU wasn't getting the power it needed from the PSU. Looking at the cable, it had started to melt the plastic with the connector in the PSU. I replaced the cable and it was fine, but now I only use one cable per 8 pin connector.

  • I've had games where it can take a few tries to get into it. Some of them have ended up being my favorite games.

  • Started playing Horizon Forbidden West again on my Christmas vacation. I put it down after completing the first area, but have some renewed interest.

I am also finishing up Death's Door on my Steam Deck, which is a great little game.

I am also going to try something I did in the past to help get me through some games. I'm going to set a goal of completing 2 games a month. The biggest issue in the past was not putting down games that weren't interesting me enough. I have the free time, just need that extra motivation.

  • I would say its still open source. There is no requirement to be able to contribute modifications back. It is more about the availability of the code and what you can do with it.

  • I'm excited to try this. I am waiting for reviews of how it runs on Linux and a small discount before I pick it up.

  • Makes sense to continue the support since these components may be reused in other systems.

  • Fuck Nintendo. All they have done is ensure I never buy one of their products again.

  • Battlemage should have already been released. There is a decent chance we will see new GPUs from the other two in the next 6 months, which will eat into their shares more.

  • It works, it's just flakey to get battle.net started sometimes.

Add-ons can be managed by either wowup or the curseforge client. I prefer the former since it can install from other sources too.

Weakauras can be updated with both the weakauras companion and wago companion app.

Warcraft logs and raider.io also have Linux clients that can be used.

  • The majority of the issues I have with WoW on Linux are because of the battle.net launcher. If they added the game to Steam, I'm sure I wouldn't have any issues.

  • I'm a vim user and I would say it's not. It's very powerful, but only once you become familiar with the commands.

Nano is a better default for the average user because it works in a way most users would expect for a text editor to work.

  • Thanks. I remember seeing that thread on Mastodon, but I hadn't associated it with his actions. I think open logs are good and if someone acts like that as a moderator, it is best if they step down.

  • Can you provide some more information about him abusing his powers here?

  • Seems to have frame pacing issues in several games. Hopefully they can work out those issues with driver updates.

  • tldr, he was sexting a minor.

  • Go ahead and report it to the Mint team. Even if it is an issue upstream, they will verify the issue and then report it as well. Never hesitate to report a bug you find, especially if it's a security or privacy issue.

Even if the bug is a duplicate, it helps to know other people are having the same issue. At worst they will mark your report as a duplicate, which will let you know they are aware of the issue.

  • I think the FOV was for controller gameplay based on the controller glyphs shown on the screen. I would hope that the FOV would be configurable on PC at the least.

  • Almost every emulator lets you remap buttons on your controller. There is nothing that stops you from mapping the buttons based on position instead of what the face button says. There are also plenty of controllers you can use on PCs that have the Nintendo layout.

  • How so? It's just a controller that is just the most standard for PC because Microsoft fully implemented the drivers in Windows.
