Ahhhh, I'm always excited when someone else mentions Northern Exposure! Sometimes it's felt like enough people haven't known what I was talking about, if I couldn't pull up the IMDb, I'd think it was some kind of Mandela effect of memories. One of the most fantastic themes, too -- like the coziest aspects of the 90s made audible. Time for a re-watch, it's been a long time.
Whoa! I don't actually know what I expected, but this is so much more awesome information than I thought I'd see!
Thanks, everyone -- I think I'm leaning towards a Baratza model, as that should fit a lot of categories that weren't absolutely necessary, but preferred (electric, mid-range price, upgradeable).
Eventually, I may go for something fancier, some of those recommended are very slick, or gift myself a hand-grind; I do enjoy the ritual for certain things, but I'm not there yet, for coffee -- props to those who put so much care into your brew!
Illness wrecked my enjoyment of many things until recently, coffee included, so it's exciting--if not a little daunting--seeing numerous home options available. It seemed like pour-over was just getting going in the US last time I had the will and energy to look into a better brew, so I'll be thrilled to have something nicer than my little Y2K era Krupps grinder (though the tiny beast is still kickin', haha), and slowly move into a variety of quality home brewing options, especially as winter approaches.
Almost always used in the context of brand-speak/commercial marketing. What's the game, guys? Corporate propaganda? Cause no, using an app to book a handyman that pays to be advertised on your service, or buying microplastic encapsulated detergent is not a goddamn "game changer" for anyone, besides the shareholders.
It's probably a term used elsewhere too, but in the US Navy, when it's coming from both ends, especially stationed or deployed on ship, it's the double dragon. Ship food is bad. Ship food is rejected prison food. Moldy. Horrible. Absolute garbage. Garbage would probably be safer.
Also, just a fantastic show. Feels like time to do a re-watch, being reminded of it, and though I don't have fancy speakers, I'll have to pay extra attention to the audio.
My new therapist's office sets a recurring bi-weekly appointment for their patients, which I find fantastic, and it's been a great start, but it's still relatively new and we're getting familiarized enough to work out a specific treatment plan, so every two weeks, she'll open with a genuine: "How are you?" and it's a toss-up in my head between: "Are you sure you wanna know? Or should we get shit done..."
I just keep it to my phone, and have an app timer set for 1 hour +5 minutes. It's nice if I'm at home, I know it'll cover my daily walking steps, as I pace donuts around the house, which also gets me off my ass and moving, so when I want to browse Lemmy, I try to do so whilst pacing. Regardless, when I get the notification saying the app will shut down in 5 minutes, I know how long I've been on, and kinda do a self-reflective check on how well the time was spent.
If I'm writing a comment that will take time and attention, though, I often just switch to a note, and copy/paste, cause I'll work on something like that for much longer, before often deciding not to post anything, at all. (งツ)ว
This is quality dad. It was made even better, because I didn't notice the community name at first, and was mildly disappointed that it wasn't a thoughtful post on orthopedic shoes. Well done, goddammit.
