  • I've got a family member interested in switching to Linux but the finance software is an obstacle. I had a look and landed on gnucash which I thought I would trial myself and then see if if would work for them. I like it!

  • Check out KanaDojo. Its a cool little web app that will help with hiragana and katakana.

  • In Australia we fill up first and then go in to pay.

I think you can prepay in some apps or at truck stops or whatever but its far from the norm and usually a choice.

  • I read this as demonoid cyst which might be a better name.

  • Love sports. All the sports I watch are currently on the one service. Occasionally I'll go to a game but prefer the lounge room stadium.

I've moved workplace in the last few years and having sport to talk about made it so much easier socially.

I do wish the gambling ads would fuck right off though.

  • Peertube?

  • Firefox and DuckDuckGo.

  • I never really watched a lot of movies growing up but then at some point realised there was so much that I was missing. Now I view the history of cinema as a smorgasbord and I am really enjoying jumping all over it.

  • I have my old 10 install and my Mint install on different drives. I just unplug the one I don't want and swap them physically to change.

It was a great point of friction when I switched to Linux because booting Windows meant actual physical action which acted as a deterrent.

  • I was running screenshots I would grab from anime if there was a lingering shot on a nice scene. Had a really nice sky and clouds shot for a while. Phone has had a nice Hiroshi Nagai painting since I got it.

Currently just on one of the Mint defaults since the latest installation. I'll change it. Eventually.

  • Seconding this because I have had that issue. Switched over to an AMD card and life was good.

  • I wouldn't be so sure about that. The state government of Queensland, Australia just lifted a 12 year ban on IBM getting government contracts after a colossal fuck up.

  • Dsub is great but looks slightly dated. Tempo might be what you're looking for.

  • I remember the F1 communities here being pretty good and active around the reddit API change exodus times.

Not sure if they still are as I stay away due to not being able to watch most races live.

  • If something interests me I add it to the list. Not overly concerned with critical opinion if its negative.

Sometimes I will seek other things based on enjoying something. So an actor or director's other works for example.

Talking to people and finding out what they enjoy and then evaluating whether or not it is interesting to you is a good way to isolate something. For example KPop Demon Hunters looked like slop to me (and I enjoy some Korean media), but someone at work started talking about it and that got me just interested enough to take a look into it and them watch and subsequently enjoy it.

  • I believe it refers to a similar concept in the car modding scene.

  • There would be annual expeditions to try and defeat whatever is causing it.

  • I've only quit jobs when moving, one I gave 2 months notice and confirmed I would be around for two peak periods. I have done what you did without the vacation bit. Tell them first and then give them the letter.

  • Australia had a mass shooting in 1996 and pretty strict gun control came in. Now it's only really sport shooters (who are a pretty responsible bunch from my experience), rural property owners with a good reason (pest control largely), certain occupations like specific security (cash transport for instance), cops and military that have guns. And criminals.

We still get the odd shooting but they're pretty rare and to my understanding, almost never done by legal owners.

I'm not sure what things were like back in 1996 but I don't believe we really have the gun culture so there's not much opposition to gun control by the majority.
