  • a lot of things are black and white though. the world is becoming more and more fascist, so a ton of people are done being polite and entertaining the spectrum of ideas. it’s easy to lose sight of it all and become frustrated and forget nuance.

  • yes, both of my closest friends have pulled away. one far less, one far more. we’re all good friends as well so we talk about each other since we care about each other. our mutual friend hasn’t spoken to us in months. i have sent them several texts letting them know whenever they want to talk to reach out. i tell them every so often i care about them and love them and am thinking of them, but nothing. we’ve known each other for 20 years… since teens. it sucks. i know what’s going on and i don’t.

    the friend i still talk to has pulled back in other ways. we talk frequently but it isn’t about deep stuff anymore other than politics since we are compatible leftists. but i don’t talk about her life and when i try to ask it gets deflected or dismissed. not rudely, mind you, she just doesn’t go into detail.

    i understand.. but i’m still a bit hurt. i miss friendship; the ones i had before. i hope we all come back to each other.

    in the meantime, i have also met new friends. i always enjoy meeting people.

  • i listen to music constantly. it is my passion hobby, my favorite form of art, my special interest. there are over 4600 artists in my library and i’m always visiting new and old sounds. i love music.

    i would be devastated. i don’t know. i’m not sure if i could find living bearable.

  • i strongly believe we have deluded ourselves as a society to associate natural human feelings with youth when they are simply how humans perceive and feel regardless of age. every single older person i ask if they feel their age says no. they all tell me they feel like they’re in their 20s at the oldest, some still teenagers. your body ages, you get wiser due to life experiences, but you don’t “become an adult” ever, because what we consider adulthood is a Western lie built upon capitalist standards and strict American individualism (if you’re in the US).

    i don’t feel 36. i don’t know what that would even entail. i feel “younger,” but i don’t see it that way. i feel like a human being connected to his actual existence and acknowledging it rather than allowing it to be repressed because i’m too old for x y z. we are all young-minded permanently. that’s just how humans are. it isn’t reserved for the physically young.

  • it depends. you mention "intense fear" as opposed to being uncomfortable or uneasy or feeling slightly threatened. that would be the average response, i'd think. if you have a history of abuse or trauma, then your intense fear may be a disordered response.

  • the focus is on POC because the conversation is about POC supporting minority groups. it’s meant to highlight unity against oppression but the most wealthy have abandoned the oppressed group they’re within instead. that is a unique thing not shared by everyone.

  • i don’t see that being said anywhere. was it edited? it does not imply that at all. they’re saying minorities should help minorities. stating all billionaires should be taxed is a separate statement. both can be true.

  • yes, the pressure to follow the way these companies demand of you is challenging to navigate. it makes me dislike my own art. and thanks! 100k is a lot. for sure, but these days? maybe C-list in the online entertainment world lol.

  • i can't travel for open mics, unfortunately. however, i tried stand-up once and hated it. i did decently but was terrified the whole time and couldn't think straight or focus. i'd rather not feel that way again. online is where i feel safest. it's okay, it is what it is. the entertainment industry has always been bullshit on top of bullshit. this is nothing new, just a shittier way for capitalists to get what they want out of artists.

  • i am on TikTok and Shorts, so yes, short-form videos. it is a huge problem over here and it suuuuuucks ass.

    I wouldn’t be surprised if the long-form platforms are screwing you over

    They just seem so tailor-made to addict you, and I don’t need another addiction.

    you aren't wrong. they know what you like very, very well. it's disturbing. but if i'm gonna be forced into this dystopia can an online comedian get a little break here, eh????
