  • I just want to make sure I really know what websites to avoid so I don’t accidentally do a crime.

  • I picked a name that has the same first letter as my deadname (though it’s not as dead as I’d like it to be just yet), because it’s a less common letter, and I like that. It’s also the name of my many-times great grandmother, which I think is cool. It is the first one I tried, but it’s felt right and no other names appealed to me as much, so I’m content!

  • “I am a good person.”

My Catholic upbringing really ingrained in me the idea that I’m a fundamentally bad person. Turns out, even if you deconvert, those thought patterns will still plague you. So I have to remind myself often that just because I’m not Catholic or who my parents would like me to be, that doesn’t mean I’m doing anything wrong.

  • What an odd thing to say.

  • Ooh, salt is a good one!

  • TIL garlic bread memes are an aroace thing. Who knew!

  • I’ll plug the podcast Live Like The World Is Dying.

From their website: “How do we live in a world that might be ending? By preparing to survive that end and by working to prevent it. Live Like the World is Dying features interviews with people who think about how to prepare for and survive crises.”

  • I love the Field Roast veggie sausages. I don’t feel like they’re trying and failing to imitate meat, but rather that they’re trying to make something tasty that hits the form factor and general savoriness of meat. And they do that well, imo

  • I can’t tell if this meme is unironically tankie, or satirizing them…

  • Mass electrification of end uses, with nuclear for clean firm baseload, and wind and solar plus storage for peaks, is the future of energy. The longer the US is unwilling to let go of fossil fuels, the further behind it will be. China already has enough of an advantage that it has secured its position as the global leader of energy technology for at least the next century.

  • Awesome, thanks! Sounds like just what I’m looking for

  • I just switched from Spotify to TIDAL, and it appears to have a Live session feature. I haven’t tried it yet tho

  • I think you nailed it with the Firefly quote. I’ve always loved that one.

Even if our movements don’t succeed, I want to be able to say that I did my part and didn’t go down without a fight.

  • Sometimes! At my high school, it was a thing for your friends to decorate your locker for your birthday as a surprise. One year my friends covered my locker in Christmas wrapping paper with a giant drawing of a dog on it, because our running gag at the time was that my hairstyle made me look like a spaniel

  • Is the protective order to protect you from someone, or is it meant to protect someone from you (unjustly, it would seem you’re saying)?

And I understand it’s frustrating to feel like people aren’t giving you the help you’re looking for. But I think the folks saying “I am not a lawyer, and you need a lawyer” are just trying to be responsible, because especially when it comes the law, being or having a relevant expert is important.

  • Will do, sorry about that! I’m usually on mobile, so I don’t see sidebars a lot of the time

  • I mean, you can say that, but without a clear line of argument explaining why that’s the case, I remain unconvinced.

  • But it’s the exact same comment on so many posts. It doesn’t need to be a bot or AI doing the posting for it to be spam.

I understand you feel it’s relevant and important, but what you are doing is pretty much the definition of spamming.

  • Can you explain in what way it is not spam?
