  • It's definitely doable. There's plenty of companies and governments in Europe that have made the switch to open source away from Microsoft.

  • You deserve to have an OS that doesnt spy on you. As well if you install linux then your company can't spy on you either.

  • I didn't convince anyone, I just did it.

As soon as microsoft announced the recall feature I was like nope this I aint consenting to that even at work. I put Nixos/Gnome on my work laptop and haven't looked back. Everytime I help someone on their windows 11 laptop it feels like a snails pace.

I wish I could convince our workplace to switch to linux. I feel like Nixos would be PERFECT for the workplace, you could just deploy like a standard config and add more apps if needed.

It would make all the software requests super easy. (given they were FOSS ofc. Even most windows apps work using Wine or Proton tbh.) I don't use any closed source apps on my laptop, but others could.

  • FYI you can't be a feminist if you pay for the SA and murder of other women.

  • You forgot the bumble bee.

  • Knew someone was going to correct me some how. Love it! Learn something new every day.

  • If it was man pages then they were likely scripting not coding. 🤷‍♀️

    Edit: Obligatory "Actchuuuallllyyy*"

  • I put my work computer on Linux(NixOS) lol. When I do IT for users on Win 11 I'm constantly like "Why is this so slowwww? ".

  • haha partway through the article I was like why don't you just use NixOS and then they actually covered it.

It looks like if NixOS spent some time working on its accessibility during setup, It could be a really good solution.

  • Fashion is comfy

  • I think they mean Steam won't be on the Switch. Sure, some games will be on both Steam and Switch, but eventually once they can emulate the Switch two, you'll have every Nintendo game on the emulator, whereas you'll only have a handful of games on the Switch.

  • People inside rn be like: "Why are some of these people I'm shooting white??.. Ah well."

  • Can you please add the ability to delete chat channels after they have been created. Thank you for making this.

  • It's not as pretty. You have text channels, but they're literally just text channels. There's no reactions. or fun gifs. TBH It might be refreshing to not have this stuff for a bit.

  • It does have multiple text channels.

  • I'm guessing if you were the last person to close this session, all chat would be lost, unless you saved it to the file.

OP mentioned that they were working on a self-host version that persists.

  • federation isn't really required here since account creation is trivial and non-persistent from the looks of it. Third party clients and being a protocol are definitely pros that matrix has over this. Matrix is definitely a lot more fleshed out than this project, but even though its new it already has more to it in some ways than matrix has. It also feels way more snappy than matrix, matrix can be sluggish at times.

  • At a glance looks easier to setup, less complicated, a few more features, Kanban, Notes etc. One big thing is the P2P. Matrix needs a server to run, this is P2P.

  • Its a book and its called:

Parable of the Sower, By Octavia E. Butler.

It was scary how real it felt lol.
