As soon as microsoft announced the recall feature I was like nope this I aint consenting to that even at work.
I put Nixos/Gnome on my work laptop and haven't looked back.
Everytime I help someone on their windows 11 laptop it feels like a snails pace.
I wish I could convince our workplace to switch to linux. I feel like Nixos would be PERFECT for the workplace, you could just deploy like a standard config and add more apps if needed.
It would make all the software requests super easy. (given they were FOSS ofc. Even most windows apps work using Wine or Proton tbh.) I don't use any closed source apps on my laptop, but others could.
I think they mean Steam won't be on the Switch. Sure, some games will be on both Steam and Switch, but eventually once they can emulate the Switch two, you'll have every Nintendo game on the emulator, whereas you'll only have a handful of games on the Switch.
It's not as pretty. You have text channels, but they're literally just text channels. There's no reactions. or fun gifs.
TBH It might be refreshing to not have this stuff for a bit.
federation isn't really required here since account creation is trivial and non-persistent from the looks of it.
Third party clients and being a protocol are definitely pros that matrix has over this.
Matrix is definitely a lot more fleshed out than this project, but even though its new it already has more to it in some ways than matrix has. It also feels way more snappy than matrix, matrix can be sluggish at times.
At a glance looks easier to setup, less complicated, a few more features, Kanban, Notes etc.
One big thing is the P2P.
Matrix needs a server to run, this is P2P.
All it takes to be true is one little USB stick 😉
