Everything flows down from the C-Suite. They tell Marketing to increase sales. Marketing tells Advertising to make “creative” ads (but then only approves “safe” boring ads). Then Marketing runs those uninteresting ads based on the number of times a spreadsheet says will get the most sales. They are disassociated from the customer experience, and will likely not be moved by public outcry. They only care when it doesn’t work, and it does or they wouldn’t do it. Sorry.
Get good at something people value. You will always be able to say, “I’m shite at a lot of things, I’m ugly, and unlikable, but at least I can __________”.
Exactly, also stop vilifying “advertising” when the cause of advertising is corporations. There would be no advertising without corporations paying for it. It’s like complaining about ashes instead of the fire.
I’ve used a Mac since forever. But I started using FOSS apps. Then I created a Hackintosh, until it borked. Then I installed ZorinOS and almost didn’t need to fix the Hackintosh. I did fix it, but Zorin convinced me that Linux is legit and I’m going all in on it.
I never see much love for ZorinOS, but I find it a very solid replacement. I still use my Macbook for certain things, but I am slowly moving away from even that thanks to Apple’s spying and whatnot.
