  • You have a good heart and are stronger than you think.

Some of your instincts are exactly right, while some are a little off. You're right about finding better opportunities to meet like minded people in the city. Parts of Ohio are pretty progressive and open minded.

There are women who would love to get to know you, and that will only improve over time. As people get older and wiser, the stereotypical roles become less and less important, and what ends up mattering is having a caring partner who is capable of growth. That's you.

Last, yes, there are some people who might wish to do violence to anyone who is different. However, they tend to be cowards and opportunists and there are not that many of them. The point of terrorism is to make people afraid, because even though it's unlikely for any one person to be a victim, everyone feels like they could potentially be a victim.

It is extremely unlikely that you will personally be targeted with deadly violence just for who you are. It's even more unlikely to happen multiple times. The best thing you can do to protect yourself is to have situational awareness.

  • I set up mine through docker and it works great. I've switched from other CalDAV / CardDAV hosts and it really is the most stable and reliable.

  • Honestly, the folks at Merriam Webster are pretty amazing and I don't mind supporting them with a simple click.

Crowdsourced solutions are fine, but subject to armchair research and inaccuracy. If it really matters, I'd rather trust people who have studied and devoted their lives to being linguists.

  • I use a third party VPN without any issues (USA)

  • Okay, so don't set up cameras in your house?

For everyone else: I've found on other forums that reolink can be set up without connecting to the manufacturer, and likely others. It's relatively trivial for experienced users to insulate any given device from the internet while using HA.

  • The point of self hosting is that it all stays local.

  • What hardware setup do you need to implement POE?

  • Thank you for sharing these details! Very helpful.

  • Does that mean that you have two devices, one running frigate, and one with HA? Or is it all on one server? Is there any beginner's guide for setting up the hardware and software needed?

  • You'd have to make it with embroidery floss or something to get a thin knit.

  • I dunno, I guess we'd have to ask that crayfish that cloned itself a few million times and will likely never die.

  • Science is really the only objective system of truth. The origin of consciousness is at present beyond scientific understanding or any pathway towards understanding.

Unfortunately, that means that your question is unanswerable. There is no objectively true answer to this question. Any possible response would be speculation or belief.

  • Yes, it depends a lot on the jurisdiction where you live. In general where permitted, it involves a process of legally establishing your wishes, receiving qualified counseling, and then obtaining the "means" to use according to your designated plan.

  • One last comment on your edit: Tempo is great, and I used that as well, plus it's open source. The symfonium dev is actually pretty cool about helping you work around Google if you want to buy it another way, but it has to be activated manually by the dev on each device. I just didn't want the hassle.

I'd probably go with Tempo if I were still using navidrome since it's open source.

  • I did this for a while, and only switched back to Jellyfin/Finamp while degoogling (needed for paid version). I thought it was definitely worth it while I was using it. I also listen to music on the TV and Jellyfin handles it better than other options I tried (including side-loading symfonium).

I currently use a separate music library manager on my server to organize my music collection, then Jellyfin just does the server work.

I think you'll be very happy with the setup you are using.

  • Piefed was also designed to be better at serving more people, especially outside of North America and Europe. It does more with less data, so people on slower internet in large parts of the world can participate just as easily.

  • Is it possible that they are brads from a nail gun? Are there tiny marks on the opposite side? Those nails don't have heads you can grip, but you wouldn't be able to pull them through.

If so, you may be able to push them back where they came from using the pliers.

  • I'd just grab em with some pliers. Maybe needlenose depending on how small and how the space is.

  • I learned multiplication by flash cards in kindergarten and first grade, but I think they generally teach multiplication tables in third grade. I never really learned them because am very bad at memorizing. I just faked it since I could calculate it in my head fast enough (although I was always much slower than my classmates).

    Gifted education is a scam.

  • I think the Ubuntu haters are overly enthusiastic. It's perfectly fine. Actually pretty good.

Mint is extremely popular as a recommendation for good reasons as well.

Both have excellent support communities, which is important. Linux in general has become a lot more "plug and play" in recent years, meaning that it will do more of what you want right out of the box. In all likelihood, you will want to do something with it that requires help, so having a robust community makes a big difference.
