  • Now is when I wish we could upvote a comment multiple times.

  • The individual people may be good, but the systems in place are not. Just like other countries. Exploitation, power grabs, authoritaianistic tendencies etc are a problem. Along with dehumanization and general short sightedness by so called leaders (political , business and religious). Things are coming to a head, and something has got to give.

  • Though I have lost some things I valued ( not up for that story right now) what I do still have is a photo of myself autographed by Mark Shuttleworth (of Ubuntu fame). It was from when I met him while he was touring after his adventure on the ISS. Reminds me of better times.

  • Piper , and maybe speechd? Also look at speech note.

  • Im pretty sure this has been mostly common knowledge for a while. I think people are just a little more shocked by how blatant the powers that be are being lately regarding how little regard they actually have for the common people. There used to be a time when leaders would resign at any hint of a scandal. Now they revel in scandals.

  • How much would it costs to send all of the world's politicians to the titanic using ocean gate subs? Just suggesting they discuss their disagreements down there.

  • Showerthoughts @lemmy.world

It would be hilarious if, one day, the Nobel Peace Prize was decided by no rules cage fight. Pay per view, of course.

  • Thank you

  • Thank you

  • Why the hate on flatpaks? Am I missing something?

  • Politicians will likely take a more active role in screwing it up.

  • Not likely for long time , but could be a sleeper in case things go sideways down the line. We are not likely to be making them at home as other commentators suggest.. im expecting it to give arm a run for its money if politics gets really bad. The global south will likely make good use of it in that case. Also who knows. Linux was in this position a while.ago and that was an awesome surprise.

  • Scrollbars that are impossible.to use because they auto.minimize , and you have to get them just right to slide.

  • Not my area, but I think you need to go back much further than the dinosaurs for a common ancestor. I'm sure someone with actual knowledge will educate us in the comments.

  • By adoption maybe... how adventurous was somebody's grannysaurus and their special friend?

  • Corruption, and running enterprises into the ground with. Our countries official power utility, our postal service, our railways, our police as examples. You know , the stuff we kind of need as citizens. Edit: Our taxation is world class though.

  • Be careful looking up numbers online as well. There are lots of fake numbers and sites out there. Use previous known good communication as your guide for contacting the specific entity you are trying to contact. If at all possible. Also, smammers seem to have databases of scraped and leaked data so will often pull up your data based on your caller ID or other info you may disclose to them. Be careful out there.

  • My understanding is that should you disclose your credentials you would generally void any fraud protection the banks may offer.

  • As a fellow saffer, and a person who works with scam victims, I'm curious as to what services asked you to do that? Feel free to pm me.

  • Not die. But that's a tough ask as my current retirement plan is unaliving.
