  • opinionated software is about how you think software should behave. its not about personal world views related to how a person thinks other people should be treated in the real world.

  • yes they should talk about it but that's not what he's reviewing. He's focusing on the hype around the OS and if its even deserving of that. Why would a tech review bring in politics, it would come off as him just hating dhh and some would wave him off as a "hater". I think the fact that he's just talking about the software gives him credibility and shows that dhh is just a shit developer when it comes to operating systems. There's already enough pieces about how he might be a shit human being but not enough about if he's deserving of his merit just because he helped developed ruby on rails.

  • most of those "apps" also just open up a link in the browser...

  • the article is just about reviewing the OS (and if it can even call itself a linux distro). Its not about dhh himself, plenty of threads and posts about him out there already.

  • i cant wait for both their downfalls !!

  • does lemmy.world not allow bitch? lol thats funny

or is it something else like cunt

  • idk about the play store or ios but im using aurora store and if you go to the app page directly you are able to copy text. And Fdroid lets you link an external change log thats click-able.

  • lmao

  • ... in a addition to a link where they explain their "improvements and bug fixes" in greater detail without character limits. So yes it is a "good" example.

  • linphone adds a link and tumblr tells people to go to their dev blog where they talk about bug fixes, updates and issues they are aware of and fixing. I dont think the play store prohibits that.

  • but why not list those specific changes instead of just saying “bug fixes and performance improvements”? If the changelog is character limited on app stores cant you put a link to a dev blog or something? I want to know what is being changed on apps that have access to data on my phone. I have permissions off on every single app because of this, you literally never know what they are doing. All im asking for is transparency. Tumblr has a dedicated blog where they talk about updates but spotify just doesnt even give a shit.

Im a dev too i dont understand the modern app development landscape, how hard is it to just tell users what they're getting??

  • ooh that could be good, i only use Instagram to message my friends anyways. Deleted everything on there.

  • i dont know if they do lending but the banking side of it is convenient enough. I use it to send/recieve money to my parents cash app is too complicated for them, i dont use it as my bank account.

  • Mildly Infuriating @lemmy.world

Updates that don't tell me what is being updated

  • if the name is from a language you both speak (like the bob example) and the difference is only how you enunciate then dont worry about it. People dont care if its just a regional thing. Otherwise you should copy the pronunciation not the accent. idk if that's what you mean but for example don't do an italian accent in your english voice to "sound more italian" you'd get weird looks. Enunciate (the name only) the way they do.

  • there was this black girl in 2018 who pretended to be MAGA. She went on twitter saying how her family kicked her out because of it so she decided to "speak her truth". She managed to get sympathy from trump supporters and got them to donate to her go fund me. Only got $200 out of it and she returned the donations after admitted she just made it up for fun lmao

In an interview with New York magazine, Quran said she simply decided to "capitalize" off of all of the recent efforts by Republicans to shed the reputation that they're "mostly racist."

"A lot of Republicans have this idea that everyone thinks Republicans are mostly racist and they’re really desperate to get that stigma off of them," she said. "I just felt like capitalizing on that."

    here's a buzzfeed article on it https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/tanyachen/college-student-faked-maga-trump-sob-story-trolled-gofundme

there's also a high chance some MAGA influencers are just grifters anyway

  • Asklemmy @lemmy.ml

have you found a good use case for generative AI?

  • I have all notifications turned off except for calls and texts. I tried the bell thing on for every channel i subscribed to on youtube it was absolutely hell. Thats what made me turn it all off in the first place. Every minute there was something new. And since notifications were on i'd also get those unnecessary shit that apps thought I needed to know right this second. Ever since i turned all notifications off my life has been so calm. Especially getting rid of the bubbles on app was so liberating.

  • currently going trough my personal backlog of games I've always wanted to play but never could. Never had my own console or a good enough PC. bought myself a steam deck and I've been an absolute degenerate doing nothing but playing video games. Just finished all 3 watch dogs (+ DLCs), currently working my way trough horizon zero dawn then will play forbidden west. Also simultaneously playing expedition 33, fallout 4, sleeping dogs and the witcher 3. I know its not high art but watch dogs is my favourite game and franchise I wish ubisoft would do something more with it.

  • you know what I'm gonna try this lmao couldn't possibly hurt at this point
