  • I've been using this username since I was like 12. I think I'd just watched Babylon 5 and was trying to come up with a username that took a cheesy cringey self given nickname (Papa) and mixed it with some sci-fi sounding stuff (Babylon) and came up with papalonian.

  • Whoops, good catch. I was thinking of Methylprednisolone. It's been a while since I've been in the pharmacy.

Methylphenidate is in fact related to meth, lol.

  • Just FYI, a lot of chemical names don't really work like that.

Norco (opiate painkiller) is HYDROcodone and acetaminophen. TONS of medications start with HYDRO but have nothing to do with opiates.

~METHylphenidate~ Methylprednisolone is a common steroid often prescribed to kids

CYANoacrylate is to CYANide as GRAPEfruit is to GRAPE.

Edit: methylphenidate is in fact related to meth. I had my names mixed up. My bad!

  • My goal with the app would be to make people aware of these drivers, because it's of public concern.

How does having the face and license plate number of a dangerous driver going to make a biker or skater safer? Do you look at a car's license plate and refer to a list of safe and dangerous drivers before deciding your next move? If not, I don't think having identifying information makes the public any more aware than videos with that information removed.

Something like this just has way too high of a potential to be abused, while offering very little in terms of public safety outside of the encouragement of vigilante justice.

Imagine this: you're a perfectly safe driver, and a biker makes an unsafe move. Their camera doesn't capture the full picture, but shows the biker almost get hit by your car. Now the internet is on a witch hunt with your face and license plate number because "YOu cOuLd haVe kiLLeD hiM!!!"

  • Ah that makes sense. I got the "indicators" but don't have the time money or desire for a full blown diagnosis so I left it at that. Glad you were able to get it done though! Some people get screwed.

  • less cultural relevance for any given work.

This is what hurts the most tbh. Miss the days when all your friends were playing the same handful of games, everyone was talking about the same handful of movies and TV shows, etc. Of course variety is great and being able to choose where to invest your time is better than being locked in to a small pool of choices, but it sucks when you feel like you've stumbled upon a masterpiece, and nobody cares about it.

  • You just scheduled a doctor's appointment and got diagnosed with autism in your 30s? How did that work? Every experience I've heard of (inside and out of the US) has been quite involved

  • Days later, I would realize that we are in the comments, proving the middle of the meme correct by arguing semantics for no good reason! Hahey!

  • You have to be prepared and liking guns isn't some horrible thing with American consequences.

Again... Nobody is arguing that this isn't true.......

... Just that every leftist does not have to like guns. Don't know why this is so hard a concept.

  • I would never allow myself to be someone's eternal victim.

Kinda lame to imply op is just simply allowing this to happen.

"If ever I were homeless, I'd get a house and stop being that, not gonna allow that to happen."

I get what you're saying but for someone already in the bad spot trying to get out it's pretty patronizing.

  • you like guns

No, they're a necessary tool for change.

So you like guns because they provide change.

No, I'd prefer if we could have change without having to shoot people.

Who said anything about shooting people? They're just fun range toys.

My friend, it's ok to be wrong. The more you shuffle goal posts around the more foolish your argument looks. Nobody once said that guns or marksmanship aren't normal hobbies, they said leftists don't inherently like guns. Not even that leftists specifically don't like guns.

  • It is fun to shoot targets and clay pigeons and you should try it.

I go to the range every week to shoot my collection of guns. You and I liking guns due to them being fun does not mean leftists as a whole need to enjoy them.

  • In what way does this detract from what they said?

"We don't like guns, we need them"

"Oh yeah, well what about the times you needed guns?"

  • Well duh, they're on the street because they're experiencing decision paralysis on what house to live in that day.

  • It was probably 10 years ago, but I'm in the US and had one of these on my debit card for a few days. I believe it's if you use a physical card at the pump.

  • Ay yo?

  • That's pretty staggering. I hate moving fluids up long distances like that, so I've grown to expand those guys horizontally rather than vertically.

I built this a while back, but its the BFF (big fucking factory) that I'm most proud of, it's my current aluminum processing plant (built where your power plant is, coincidentally) that perfectly efficiently runs all 6 of the pure bauxite nodes into aluminum ingots.

  • I've only ever owned one car under 100k and it wasn't by much, lol

  • I would ask him how he would feel if someone else talked to you/ about you the same way that he does other gay people. And why it's ok that he judges other people's sons and daughters, while he alone is allowed to judge his own (according to himself).

  • Ask Lemmy @lemmy.world

Who are some widely loved fictional characters that would be hated if they were real?

  • Mildly Infuriating @lemmy.world

    I dropped more food.

  • Mildly Infuriating @lemmy.world

    No context needed.

  • Mildly Infuriating @lemmy.world

Clothes company cannot "cancel" an order that hasn't shipped, must ship it and do a return.

Just watched someone walk their cart all the way to the corral at the back of the lot rather than back to the store that was much closer.
