I get that. But I just don't browse lemmy much anymore cause all I see is politics. I specifically went out of my way to not subscribe to political communities. But look at the top posts of [email protected], a community I subscribed to for posts about technology, not politics.
3 of the top 4 are about Trump. They are obviously political, there's no ambiguity there.
This is especially annoying as someone not from the US.
This is what drives people away from the fediverse. I don't have this problem with any other social media I use (at least not to this degree). Twitter was the closest when I still used it, but even then that was somewhat fixed by just using your following feed and ignoring the algorithm. It's especially annoying because it's usually US-centric politics.
If your answer to complaints about Lemmy is "stop using it", don't be surprised that it doesn't gain traction.
