I have an apc 3000 which is a fantastic device. But it uses more power than my pc, switch, router and ap's combined. The grid is stable enough for me to rely on things to survive or can be restored from either the local or the offsite backup.
I copy my data to a nas at home. That copies once a day to an off-site nas. Once in a while I connect an external disk to the nas and copy all and disconnect it.
Perfect or not, compliant with backup procedures or not ..... it works for me and i'm happy having with an air gap backup.

One of the things they had as a rule: you would be placed in a position where you could learn a new thing. That mean that t.ex. a carpenter was learned how to cook while a cook was learned carpentry.
Elementary on my wife's, the rest of the family manages mostly. Outside family I now go to great lengths to avoid it. I just help them find the right distro and guides.
Otherwise some will see you as 1st 2nd and 3rd line support as well as hardware engineer from installation onward.
Kind of the same as in the past when tv's could be repaired. If they know you can do it, your done for. You have not stated working hours nor tariffs. And why pay for parts? You probably have boxes full of all kinds of stuff.
(Including a demand to come over and fix stuff on xmas eve at 22:00)
I know, it sounds bitter, I'm not. Or ...well over this point maybe a bit, I enjoyed helping out until too many saw it as a right and not a favour.
