  • Baseless slur made up by corporate-pushed mainstream media to normalize giving time and money to the AI companies that paid for their airtime

  • “It’s a machine made to bullshit. It sounds confident and it’s right enough of the time that it tricks people into not questioning when it is completely wrong and has just wholly made something up to appease the querent.”

  • “critical thinking” genes

Uhhhhhh that’s like the entire basis and conclusion of the eugenics master race argument 😬

  • Much of the US is not dense, so many people have to drive to get places. In my experience, most areas don’t have the infrastructure for cars + pedestrians + cyclists, let alone just cars + pedestrians. The few places that do intermingle all three do so in a way which is very overwhelming for drivers. Cyclists also tend to travel either too slow for cars to maneuver around or too fast for cars to notice them coming. Like motorcycles, their small size also makes them hard to notice or keep track of while driving, and they don’t make the volume of noise that motorcycles do which helps with noticing them.

  • This is Help

  • Maybe a life preserver ring won’t become out of date? 🛟

  • I heard on the radio that bacteria is what killed the Martians

  • That is the definition of enshittification… right? I don't know, I can’t check

  • Do you have links to any examples? I can’t say I’ve seen a whole lot of what you’re describing apart from a few isolated posts or comments here or there. I’d suggest checking to see if a significant portion of these posts are coming from a specific community or from a specific instance, and then adjusting your blocks to accommodate.

P.S. Since we’re on the topic, I’m not a bot; I just talk and write like this.

P.P.S. That’s not entirely true. I would have written “I’m not a bot—I just talk and write like this.” but it didn’t seem like an appropriate time to use an em dash.

Edit: after looking through OP’s profile and seeing a couple of apparently AI-generated posts, I’m starting to think that this post is also AI-generated or that OP has some weird false flag-esque agendum that they’re up to

Edit 2: the banner picture on their profile literally reads “LLM❤️”. They are a troll spam account.

  • I can’t do a thought police, but that is categorically what cults do. It’s not thought policing to advise people to be wary of thought policing or to promote scientific literacy and empathy.

  • Yeah, the situation got resolved when harm came in. You gotta commit an actual crime to be punished right?

I was meaning more so addressing the beliefs in absurdities before they result in committing atrocities, to paraphrase Voltaire.

  • How do you suggest we go about doing that?

  • What about in the case of the aforementioned Rajneeshpuram (prior to the mass food poisoning) where they politically overtook a town and armed themselves? They effectively seized the mechanisms you mentioned on a local level, and it wasn’t until people got directly and clearly hurt by them that a larger governing body interfered in a way which did eliminate their presence.

  • Ask Lemmy @lemmy.world

What do you think is the best course of action to address cult movements, either as a whole or on an individual level?

  • To quote the French: “Say levee”

  • I looked up a “Phil Axes” “song” on YouTube, where it lists composer and publisher credits. The composer is credited as Fabian Friedman and the publisher is listed Copyright Control, which seems to mean it was self-published. If you search for self-published songs by Fabian Friedman using these known search terms, you get an abundance of different “artists” of different names, and way too much music for one person to output that frequently under different project names. It looks to me like Fabian Friedman is an AI ”music” spammer.

A lack of social media, blogs, or a personality on Bandcamp are a good sign that a newly surfaced obscure act may be fake.

Edit: the Google link above doesn’t work for whatever reason. Type the following into Google video search to get that link: “Fabian Friedman” “copyright control” site:youtube.com

  • Genesis - Illegal Alien, overly poppy and tasteless for a variety of reasons. If not for the lyrics and racial insensitivity, it would be musically preferable to Who Dunnit

Peter Gabriel - The Story of OVO, I love to see Peter experiment and test out different genres but he does not realize how important flow is to rap/hip hop and his lyrical verbosity got the best of him

Honorable mention: Foreigner - Big Dog, overly repetitive riff, trite and creepy symbolism, and really weird growling by Lou Gramm. The sax solo is good though

  • A Spanish Piece and anything on Ummagumma are worse than Seamus IMO

  • Probably the Enemy Boxer from Lego Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures. Canonically he is a mechanic but they don’t even give him the wrench ability which isn’t even that special of an ability, and then he dies like a wimp with his plastic still-alive head getting chopped off by the plane that he’s supposed to be repairing. An idiot who would punch an anvil three times in a row deserves that sort of graceless demise.

  • I guess I had initially interpreted “normal” meaning the percent of people who have once in their life held that job, rather than the percent of people holding the job at any given time.

  • Ask Lemmy @lemmy.world

People who want a romantic partner, what are you looking for that your current options lack?

  • Ask Lemmy @lemmy.world

What do you do when you’re functionally reliant on others’ approval of you and you don’t know what you’re doing wrong to not get it?
