Hey, I'm a 3D artist, bass player, and a bad programmer.I'm self-hosting everything I can, and have been using Linux since Ubuntu 14.04. (Arch btw exclusively since 2019)My first account on here was over at .ml about a year before the whole Reddit shtstorm. (@princesszelda, yoink) Also on blahaj @[email protected]

  • I could be entirely wrong, but that's what it looks like, yeah.Absolutely hate registration walls as well.

  • Same here, so I'd assume so.

  • I have no idea! I'm already hosting Lemmy so I don't really see the point personally.Just thought I'd look it up for OP.

    Differences between Lemmy and PieFed

    • Comments with -10 score are collapsed by default.
    • Communities are organized into topics. See https://piefed.social/topics.
    • Image-heavy communities can have a tiled/masonry view, like https://piefed.social/c/[email protected]
    • People who get downvoted a lot end up with a ‘low reputation’ indicator next to their name. You’ll know it when you see it.
    • Hide all posts based on keyword filters.
    • Keyboard shortcuts.
    • Upvotes in meme communities do not add to reputation.
    • Better UI design (somewhat subjective!)
    • Improved hotness ranking algorithm (subjective)
    • Voting is private.
    • See also features for healthy communities.
    • Each community has it’s own wiki. Demo
  • squeal gang rise up!

  • Decay is my favourite month

  • Just updated the post again, yeah. But I think that was due to me changing nameservers for my domain at the time. Cheers.

  • This slot just used 20 Watts of power for 3 hours || This GPU just used 2kW to write Hello World in sveltekit.

  • Yeah, from what I understand it's nothing crazy for any regular client, but really messes with the bots.I don't know, I'm just so glad and happy it works, it doesn't mess with federation and it's barely visible when accessing the sites.

  • Selfhosted @lemmy.world

    Anubis is awesome! Stopping (AI)crawlbots

  • Switched to Zed recently, after finding out it's basically flawless on Linux now (it was pretty bad initially) and after about 20 minutes uninstalled vscodium for good. It's a very solid editor and one less electron thing on my system.

  • Getting drunk alone and listening to Haken's Fauna because everyone's busy. sobemoji

  • Actually looking at ctop.. I think they're only mentioning the lemmy server itself in the docs. ¯(ツ)_/¯

  • Yeah I'm not really sure about the RAM usage, I guess technically the lemmy server itself is eating 150.

  • I clicked it SO many times. When will I get my PS2?

  • "NSFW content is permitted but it must be tagged and have content warnings." Do I need to tag this because Neil is technically nude? 😔

    You'rule the piano man

  • Voyager 1 is shaking right now

  • Reminds me of when my Jellyfin container kept growing its log because of something watchtower related. Think it ended up at 100GB before I noticed. Not even debug, just failed updates I think. It's been a couple of months.

  • In my experience, git forges are especially hit hard

Is that why my Forgejo instance has been hit twice like crazy before...Why can't we have nice things. Thank you!

EDIT: Hopefully Photon doesn't get in their sights as well. Though after using the official lemmy webui for a while, I do really like it a lot.
