  • I really like Pretty. Odd. by Panic! At the Disco - it sort of reminds me of the later Beatles albums but is still unique.

  • Copying my comment here for visibility too, that comm is not a men's only comm, nor should it be treated as such.

The official Dull Men's Club website encourages women to participate as well, so I don't think it should be considered as a men-only community:

Though it started with men, women now belong too.

  • If 99.9999% of users are men, it's effectively a place where men can express themselves without the fear that some women will flood the comments.

The point of the community is to share the dull things you've accomplished, not to go there and talk about stuff with the expectation that only men will respond. I was trying to tell that commenter that, despite the name, it's not trying to be a man-only space, and people hopefully should not react to or expect the community to be as such. I just wanted to clarify since I think the comm is cool. There's another similar community called [email protected] if anyone objects to the name itself.

That's what women want with their women only spaces. And while that man wasn't being that rude, until women feel more comfortable let them have their bubbles.

    I agree with you.

  • I wonder if kids pick that because its one job that they understand and attribute positively (to some degree - "a teacher is someone that teaches kids like me at a school and we have fun") whereas jobs that their parents have are more nebulous and more negative in their mind ("my parents leave for the day and then come back angry? I don't want to do that").

  • Doesn't work on Connect :(

  • For sure! I'll DM you

  • I'm a data analyst, not so much a developer, but in my work I write SQL, DAX, and M code. My job involves sales people telling me what metrics they think they want, delivering those metrics, then being told to make different metrics because the ones I delivered didn't play into their narrative 🙃

    Never forget

  • I'm playing through the first Death Stranding, which I've really been enjoying. The gameplay did not hook me initially, but it grew on me. I'm a sucker for a good narrative and so I progressed because I wanted to know what was happening.

I'll want to play the second one afterwards, but I'm thinking that I'll take a break in between. Maybe try Sword of the Sea? It looked pretty cool.

    Just say it gurl

  • I do think that medication is key, and luckily my fiance is very dedicated to taking his pills diligently. If your son is seeking treatment, then that's a great step in the right direction. And with your support, I think he will definitely be on the right path. Best of luck! I'll be rooting for him and you :)

  • I want to second genetic testing! I had it done for myself after taking medicine for depression for years without it helping, and my doctor and I were able to find something that has helped me a lot.

I'm not sure if there's different companies that do it, but just so you have a name, the one I used was Genesight. I think my insurance told me that they wouldn't cover it, so I was able to get it for free.

  • Hi, I'm currently engaged to a wonderful man who I love very much. He is diagnosed with both ADHD and bipolar disorder, and has been since he was a kid. He's had a long time for him and his doctor to experiment with which medications work well for him and get him stable, and so, to be very honest, I don't think I really notice much of anything that I attribute to his bipolar. If he had never told me about it and had only mentioned his ADHD, I don't think I would have ever known.

I'll admit that I don't know very much about bipolar, so it's very possible that maybe my fiance is lower on the "spectrum" (if one exists - I personally have depression and autism so this is where my first hand experience lies) than your son, but like you mentioned, your son is early in his journey compared to where my fiance is at. But I want you to know that there is definitely hope, especially with parents who love and care for him - and you must, since you're here asking about him.

If this is your first experience with mental health care, it might be advantageous to research groups in your area for help. For instance, in my area there's NAMI, which was a big help for my fiance's mother when he got his diagnosis.

If you'd like to ask more questions about my experience, feel free to shoot them my way!

  • I found this really interesting so I looked it up! This website claims that "anchovy" also came to English from Basque, along with "bilbo" and possibly "jingo".

  • I prefer uncut. Sometimes, when it's cut, you can tell that it's been done poorly and it looks really weird. Sometimes it's so bad, I need to get a knife and fix it before the main event! Other times, it's too large and I need to cut it down to the right size before I shove it in my mouth.

I hate when they fuck up my pizza slices :(

  • You realize that there are proportionally more "old hags" out there than 18-20 year-olds? And that there are also proportionally more "old" people who may feel more attracted to those "old hags" that are closer to their age?

Edit: took the time to find the wiki page referencing how even our founding fathers liked older women
