    That's quite a big umbrella. You don't have to pay labels to pay artists. Plenty of artists release HOURS upon HOURS of high quality COMMERCIAL FREE underground bass / drum and bass / jungle / etc. You just have to know where to look.

    I would just use one of those controllers and plug it into an actual DAW like Renoise. I had fun with guitar hero but I was also playing/learning guitar at the same time and before I even played guitar hero for the first time, and I just didn't keep up with guitar hero but I did continue playing guitar.
