Football, tech, and self-hosting mammal. I tinker (and tend to break) servers, follow the birds — the feathered kind — and dig through bits of local history.

  • I used to watch as much sport as I could find. Now I can't find any unless I revert to paid, or questionable, streaming sites.

I started as a foundation member of my local A-League club and remained for over 12 years, my seat never changed, but they would classify my seat differently from silver to gold to platinum, this substantially increased the cost, now it's not affordable.

I get far more enjoyment watching the 1st team of my son's soccer club – it's cheaper and I'm happy to volunteer my time around the club.

  • Brilliant post mate

  • Yep and selfhosting it is a great option as well

  • Better delete that paint shop pro download 😄

  • Downloading from the app store and installing the apk is exactly what it does. 😄

Sideloading is one of those annoying terms that exist to make it sound cooler than what it really is.

Regardless of what term, it's your device you should be able to install what you want.

  • Not same period as John Adams but Chernobyl Is amazing

  • Cheers, fixed it

  • TIL about cloud connected beds.

  • Also he never seems to get held up by flight delays, traffic or trips to the toilet because of a dodgy takeaway.

  • If the Chinese name a consolation and the Greeks name it something else what is it's name?

  • It was exactly like the movie Hackers. 😅

Due to the nature of how the ARPAnet was born (lots of academic influence and the view of free sharing of information) outside the DOD infosec wasnt a thing, even then it was an after thought.

There was a healthy phone hacking community coming out of the 70s and into the 80s. Their techniques for getting free calls helped with exploiting the ARPAnet

There were pretty significant technology changes in the 90s with the WWW and the number of people and companies online leading to more opportunities and ways to exploit.

Wargames and Sneakers are pretty entertaining and while movies will give you a bit of a vibe.

Really easy read and amazing true story

  • Long kiss goodnight

  • As a new user GPT said it would be best to install a beginner level distro like arch.

  • I plug the error into ChatGPT usually get pointed in the right direction, I mean I no longer have a functional laptop and was given instructions on how to build a really good toaster. But hey I'm learning!

  • Had to create dummy emails, fake info for my 8 year old just so they could have their own kids logon. Despite it being a kids account MS still thought it was fine to show news and photos from Gaza. Spent an hour before nuking win 11. Running Linux mint, just works for us.

  • I mucked around with so many dashboards, homarr, homepage, dashy but settled on glance

Mainly because it's minimalist and mostly text based. Handles my RSS feeds and anything that I want render I can usually vibe using the custom API widget.
