  • Yeah, this post is just rage bait. The OED isn't where people casually go to look up words, it's a huge historical collection of the English language.

  • It's been like that for a long time. The OED is mostly used by academics and it's not the dictionary that most people are familiar with. It's basically a historical reference of the English language.

  • The OED is no longer in print. You can find used copies for around $1k for the 20 volume set, though.

  • None at all for the whole process, although I think they changed it a while back.
