  • So glad to not be alone on this. It felt unfocused. I think working with Mark Ronson gave Homme a bit too much leeway to make an album that tried to hard to be cool.

It somehow went over the ironic/unironic line that Queens has always danced around.

Like Clockwork has moments that veered towards camp and cheese but never felt insincere or cloying.

  • Villains by Queens of the Stone Age.

...like clockwork (the previous album) is top 3 for me and may be my all time favorite at any given moment. But the follow-up was just not what I was looking for.

  • Yes. And don't let the "no it's a meta account only now" crowd play that card. It's the same company sucking the same data in to the same ad drenched glory hole.

This wasn't the case with the Quest 1 until it was. You could run that completely standalone with SteamVR after the backlash over a required account, then once the blowback subsided, they reintroduced the requirement.

We learned this last year after dusting off the OG Quest and trying to get it running with SteamVR. It straight refused to work without a FB/Meta account. Creating a new one has a bunch of bullshit hoops that failed when attempted behind any type of ad blocking DNS so I gave up and put the paperweight back in the case and moved on.

Fuck Meta. Fuck FB. And Fuck anything else Zuck and co touch.

Sorry for the rant it's early and I haven't had caffeine.

  • Playing a "backup" on my Switch.

    I'm doing my part.

  • It's a fantastic option at this point. I've been a GeForce Now user since 15 or 16 (whenever they launched the ShieldTV beta) and it's.... ok? You can still run it on deck as well of there's any concern.

  • Worth considering he could also use GeForce now while saving for a Steam Deck. Used ones go on sale for under $300 pretty frequently.

  • Have you tried being more in to US Politics, Linux and Privacy? I've found several very vibrant communities for those here.

  • As a shitter on the shitter I vote the name stays.

I'll take that to Matrix and my grave. 🤣

  • I like the idea of pronouncing it hook-ai-rs just for the implications on Ubers becoming u-bears.

"U-bears for hook-ai-rs" makes me chuckle. It's just the right amount of churches up.

  • How quickly can you write up a proposal? We can have GPT get us a mockup of the ui by tomorrow and be ready for production by Friday...

Did I say all of that correctly?

  • I can't believe my sleep addled brain read this as "e-scorts" like it was some new gaming thing.

  • This is a fantastic request. I, unfortunately, do not need any type of daddy in my life at this time and it's rather difficult to block them in all without going to the post or community.

  • My wife and I had and interesting pandemic that required a lot of travel unfortunately.

We gamed almost exclusively on Stadia while doing so and it was near flawless. I know it's meme for Google to kill things but man did that one really sting.

GeForce Now, PS Whatever and Xbox Cloud all aren't there when it comes to how immediate Stadia felt. I'll forever be bummed that they didn't hold out for a few more years until mainstream adoption.

  • I'm in this picture and I appreciate it.

  • I remember learning the whole torrenting process after years of irc, newsgroups and p2p clients. It took a bit of time but, man, was I passionate about dumping everything I could on to SuprNova way back.

Anymore, I only package and share on private trackers, its just too much of a risk to seed out to public ones. And being completely honest, the majority of my dl's are coming from newsgroups again. It's just a simpler process and I don't feel the leech anxiety.

That said, I also keep an eye out for requests and try to fill bounties whenever I can.

  • Its crazy someone your age works for the FBI!

  • Fuck yeah. I'm in man. That is damn near my favorite color. You got the touch. Always nice to meet good ass people.

  • I also have fond memories of those AOL days. When we knew it was real people we were interacting with. What a world of difference now. Glad you made it here! Cheers.

  • Agreed. The past year has been a great change from other social media personally. I was Reddit only for the prior 7 or so years and Lemmy feels like a time hop back to pre-dystopic Internet days. I approach it more like my favorite forums from the 90's-00's.

Less content and users are ok when it leads to more civil engagement's.
